WISE USE OF THE TONGUE
Proverbs 15:2 The tongue of the wise uses
knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours
forth foolishness.
Luke 9:32 But Peter and those with him were
heavy with sleep; and when they were fully
awake, they saw His glory and the two men who
stood with Him. 33 Then it happened, as they
were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus,
"Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us
make three tabernacles: one for You, one for
Moses, and one for Elijah" -- not knowing what he
said.
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of
the tongue
James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member
and boasts great things. See how great a forest a
little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world
of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our
members that it defiles the whole body, and sets
on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire
by hell.
James 3:9 With it we bless our God and Father,
and with it we curse men, who have been made in
the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth
proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these
things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring send
forth fresh water and bitter from the same
opening? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear
olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring
yields both salt water and fresh.
Proverbs 15:28 The heart of the righteous studies
how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked
pours forth evil.
Mark 7:20 And He said, "What comes out of a
man, that defiles a man. 21 "For from within, out
of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 "thefts,
covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an
evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 "All
these evil things come from within and defile a
man."
Proverbs 27:19 As in water face reflects face, So
a man's heart reveals the man.
Proverbs 16:23 The heart of the wise teaches his
mouth, And adds learning to his lips.
Isaiah 50:4 " The Lord GOD has given Me The
tongue of the learned, That I should know how to
speak A word in season to him who is weary. He
awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My
ear To hear as the learned.
Proverbs 10:20 The tongue of the righteous is
choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth
little.
Proverbs 16:24 Pleasant words are like a
honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to
the bones.
Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be with
grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know
how you ought to answer each one.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out
of your mouth, but what is good for necessary
edification, that it may impart grace to the
hearers.
1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your
hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to
everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that
is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a
good conscience, that when they defame you as
evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in
Christ may be ashamed.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved
unto God, a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Proverbs 17:28 Even a fool is counted wise when
he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is
considered perceptive.
Ecclesiastes 5:2 Do not be rash with your mouth,
And let not your heart utter anything hastily
before God. For God is in heaven, and you on
earth; Therefore let your words be few.
Proverbs 13:3 He who guards his mouth
preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips
shall have destruction.
Proverbs 21:23 Whoever guards his mouth and
tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.
Proverbs 17:27 He who has knowledge spares his
words
Proverbs 10:19 In the multitude of words sin is
not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.
Proverbs 18:13 He who answers a matter before
he hears it, It is folly and shame to him.
James 1:19 So then, my beloved brethren, let
every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow
to wrath;
Proverbs 29:11 A fool vents all his feelings, But a
wise man holds them back.
Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.
Psalm 4:4 Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate
within your heart on your bed, and be still.
2 Timothy 2:23 But avoid foolish and ignorant
disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24
And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be
gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility
correcting those who are in opposition, if God
perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they
may know the truth, 26 and that they may come
to their senses and escape the snare of the devil,
having been taken captive by him to do his will.
