Every Oklahoma institution will implement transformational models of remedial placement and support through a statewide phased implementation and refinement process. Develop and implement a "Program Equivalent Project" that bridges Career Tech credit hour completion to certificate and A.A.S. degree completion in the community colleges. Further expand and develop Reach Higher as a degree and certificate completion effort that involves the entire system of postsecondary education. Reform Oklahoma’s successful Brain Gain Performance Funding Program to provide metrics and accountability for measuring state and campus progress toward completion goals. 7 Higher education and K-12 will work together to: • Develop and implement a strategy that seeks to identify students not on target to be college-ready by graduation; • Target activities in the 11th and 12th grades to reduce remediation demands in the transition from high school to college. 8 Identify Feeder High Schools and Communicate with Administration/Faculty About Standards • Gear-UP • EPAS • ACE/Common Core Curriculum • Summer Math and Science Academies • Develop Transition or Bridge Math Courses 9 Developmental Education and High School Core Curriculum 10 First-Time Freshmen Enrolled in Developmental Courses by Subject Area 11 • Testing and Assessment Reform- Regents Assessment study. • Better linkages at the campus level between assessment and placement for the correct course. • Make sure that study materials, adequate time and a good testing environment are available for placement testing. • Link to funding formula – 24 credit hours in first academic year with no remediation, grad rates, degrees and certificates. 12 Accelerate remediation and time to degree Shorten courses and get to credit bearing courses sooner (OCCC model) Co-requisite model Better diagnostics and targeting of problems Math labs New math sequences (applied statistics-Statway model) New funding formula emphasis- 24 hours in first academic year with no remediation Stretch financial aid 13 • Meet CCA Degree and Certificate targets to meet Oklahoma workforce needs. • Develop and implement a “Program Equivalent Project” that bridges Career Tech credit hour completion to certificate and AAS degree completion in the community colleges. 14 -Degree and Certificate Bridges -Cooperative Alliances with Career Tech - Certificates count as completion -Associate degrees count as completion -Embed certificates in degrees and as bridges to degrees - Guided Student Pathways to Success (GPS) and Learning Resource Management Systems (LRM) - Link to the funding formula – CCA goals, degrees and certificates, graduation rates 15 • Further expand and develop Reach Higher as a degree and certificate completion effort that involves the entire system of postsecondary education. 16 Other Adult Degree Completion Options • Course availability to working adults • On-line options • Link to the funding formula – CCA goal, degrees and certificates 17 OSRHE Council on Student Affiars January 10, 2013
