Review of 2010 census round Main outcomes

All CIS countries conducted a census, except:

   Republic of Moldova: census planned in 2014 Ukraine: census planned in 2016 (not part of 2010 round) Uzbekistan: census not planned 

All countries (8) conducted a traditional census:

  Data collected using paper forms Interviews by census interviewers (no self-completion)   Sampling not used (no short form/long form) No use of data from registers

Review of 2010 census round Main outcomes

Increased use of technology compared to 2000:

    Scanning of forms used in 5 out of 8 countries Automatic or semi-automatic coding used in 6 out of 8 countries Increased use of mapping technology (GIS, GPS) Use of SMS, Facebook, social media for awareness campaign  Use of electronic dissemination tools (interactive online DBs) 

Possible use of data from registers:

   Interest in combined census (Georgia, Rep. of Moldova) Interest in register-based census (Armenia) Interest in use of admin. registers (Belarus, Ukraine) 

  Internet collection (Belarus, Georgia, Russia-urban areas) Tablets for data collection (Turkmenistan) 

Increasing use of technology for:

 Mapping-GIS (Tajikistan, Turkmenistan)
