GETTING THE MOST OUT OF PRAYER
1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that
supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving
of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all
who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet
and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of
God our Savior,
1 Corinthians 14:15 What is the conclusion then?
I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray
with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit,
and I will also sing with the understanding. 16
Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he
who occupies the place of the uninformed say
"Amen" at your giving of thanks, since he does
not understand what you say?
Acts 4:23 And being let go, they went to their own
companions and reported all that the chief priests
and elders had said to them. 24 So when they heard
that, they raised their voice to God with one accord
and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and
earth and the sea, and all that is in them, 25 "who by
the mouth of Your servant David have said: 'Why did
the nations rage, And the people plot vain things? 26
The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers
were gathered together Against the LORD and
against His Christ.' 27 "For truly against Your holy
Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and
Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people
of Israel, were gathered together 28 "to do
whatever Your hand and Your purpose
determined before to be done. 29 "Now, Lord,
look on their threats, and grant to Your servants
that with all boldness they may speak Your word,
30 "by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that
signs and wonders may be done through the
name of Your holy Servant Jesus." 31 And when
they had prayed, the place where they were
assembled together was shaken; and they were
all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the
word of God with boldness.
James 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray.
Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone
among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church,
and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the
name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the
sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has
committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your
trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that
you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a
righteous man avails much. 17 Elijah was a man with a
nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not
rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six
months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave
rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in
everything by prayer and supplication, with
thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to
God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore I exhort first of all that
supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving
of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all
who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet
and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray, lest you enter
into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but
the flesh is weak."
Colossians 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being
vigilant in it with thanksgiving; 3 meanwhile
praying also for us, that God would open to us a
door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ,
for which I am also in chains, 4 that I may make
it manifest, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:18 praying always with all prayer
and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to
this end with all perseverance and supplication
for all the saints -- 19 and for me, that utterance
may be given to me, that I may open my mouth
boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that
in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful
and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask
of God, who gives to all liberally and without
reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let
him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who
doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed
by the wind.
Luke 18:1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men
always ought to pray and not lose heart, 2 saying:
"There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear
God nor regard man. 3 "Now there was a widow in
that city; and she came to him, saying, 'Get justice for
me from my adversary.' 4 "And he would not for a
while; but afterward he said within himself, 'Though I
do not fear God nor regard man, 5 'yet because this
widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her
continual coming she weary me.' " 6 Then the Lord
said, "Hear what the unjust judge said. 7 "And shall
God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and
night to Him, though He bears long with them? 8 "I
tell you that He will avenge them speedily.
1 John 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we
have in Him, that if we ask anything according to
His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He
hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we
have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because
you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your
pleasures.
Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be
opened to you. 8 "For everyone who asks
receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who
knocks it will be opened. 9 "Or what man is there
among you who, if his son asks for bread, will
give him a stone? 10 "Or if he asks for a fish, will
he give him a serpent? 11 "If you then, being
evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your Father who is in heaven
give good things to those who ask Him!
Luke 21:36 "Watch therefore, and pray always
that you may be counted worthy to escape all
these things that will come to pass, and to stand
before the Son of Man."
Colossians 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being
vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

Matthew 6:5" And when you pray, you shall not
be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray
standing in the synagogues and on the corners of
the streets, that they may be seen by men.
Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6
"But you, when you pray, go into your room, and
when you have shut your door, pray to your
Father who is in the secret place; and your Father
who sees in secret will reward you openly. 7
"And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions
as the heathen do. For they think that they will be
heard for their many words. 8 "Therefore do not
be like them. For your Father knows the things
you have need of before you ask Him.
