The Flood
David Plaisted
Giants
• In The Antiquities of the Jews, V:2:3, the historian
Josephus gives some interesting information about
the physical qualities of giant remains:
• "For which reason they removed their camp to
Hebron; and when they had taken it, they slew all
the inhabitants. There were till then left the race of
giants, who had bodies so large and countenances
so entirely different from other men, that they were
surprising to the sight, and terrible to the hearing.
The bones of these men are still shewn to this very
day, unlike to any credible relations of other men."
• Von Engeln and Caster state: "Another
astounding discovery is that of human teeth
in China and Java of such size as to suggest
a period of gigantism in human evolution.
If the teeth can be accepted as indicative,
these giant men stood 9 to 10 feet tall and
weighed perhaps 600 to 700 pounds!"
(pages 411-412)

• Gigantopithecus (an ape?) is known to have
lived in what is now China and Southeast
Asia. Gigantopithecus was the largest
primate that ever walked the Earth. He
would have risen 9 to 10 feet high if he
choose to stand up on only his hind legs,
and probably weighed about 600 lbs (A few
scientists suggest the largest of the males
might have weighted almost 1,200 lbs.). In
comparison, the largest gorilla stands only 6
feet tall and weighs about 300 to 400 lbs.
• "I met a fellow Christian the other day who
told me that on a visit to the North of
Thailand he had seen exhibits of homo
sapien bones of people who were between
12 and 20 feet tall !! Apparently they had
been unearthed in the late 1970's and have
been dated at around 3500 BC."
• "A missionary's wife that I have met used to
be an anthropologist. She confirmed to me
personally of regular displays of anomalies
in which she has seen and handled many
such things, including over a dozen human
skulls over twice the size of today's.
• She said anthropologists readily admit the
skulls are human, but they write them off as
anomalies, something that we can't explain
yet."
• Meganthropus From Wikipedia, the free
encyclopedia.
• Meganthropus is a subspecies of the extinct
hominid species, Homo erectus. Based on
scant, but adequate, existing fossilized
remains, Homo erectus meganthropus has been
estimated to have stood roughly 9 feet tall and
weighed roughly 750 to 1000 pounds. Remains
of this subspecies, including remnants of its
cranium, lower jaw, and femur, have been
estimated to be roughly 1 million years old.
• Its remains were discovered in Indonesia and in
Australia where another anomalous variation of
Homo erectus, Homo erectus soloensis, has also
been discovered. Although once not considered
to be of the Homo genus due to its seemingly
improbable size for a hominid, Meganthropus
remains were found along with tools normally
associated with the Acheulean era, but of great
size, making it difficult to refute the intelligence
of the titanic hominid.

• A friend of mine, in recent years, had a long
talk with a New Zealand girl called Lisa
Kerr. She'd done extensive traveling, like
many young New Zealanders, who head out
on their traditional OE (overseas excursion).
• Lisa, amongst several jobs she got around
the world, worked for a while with the New
Mexico Park's Department. During her term
of employment there was a big "washout" in
one of the Park regions and I'm assuming it
was up in Pueblo country around Taos.
• The flash flood scoured out embankments
and in doing so a large number of
anomalous skeletons were exposed. Lisa
and her colleagues were assigned the task of
gathering up the remains and placing them
into crates. Also in attendance at the site
were Smithsonian Institute officials and FBI
agents.
• Each day as Lisa and the other Park's
Department employees went onto the site,
they were searched for cameras.
• Similarly they were searched as they left the
site each day to make sure they weren't
removing artifacts. They were also obliged to
sign "secrecy documents" ensuring that they
would never divulge details of their
participation in this undertaking. The reason for
this degree of secrecy stems from the fact that
the skeletons were of people who were about 8
feet tall. They had six fingers on each hand and
six toes per foot. They also had a strange,
double row arrangement of teeth.
• The crates containing the recovered
remains, at the termination of work, were
taken away by the Smithsonian officials
and, undoubtedly, will never be seen again.
Many more accounts
• There are possibly hundreds of similar
accounts of giant humans and evidences of
high technology in ancient times.
• These evidences are considered anomalies
and ignored for the most part.
• Only the results that help to explain human
evolution are published.
Plato and Atlantis
• Timaeus and Critias, two of Plato's
dialogues, are the only existing written
records which specifically refer to Atlantis.
• These dialogues appear to describe to the
world before the Flood.
Timaeus
• … he began to tell about the most ancient
things in our part of the world-about
Phoroneus, who is called "the first man,"
and about Niobe; and after the Deluge, of
the survival of Deucalion and Pyrrha; and
he traced the genealogy of their
descendants, and reckoning up the dates,
tried to compute how many years ago the
events of which he was speaking happened.
• In the first place you remember a single
deluge only, but there were many previous
ones; in the next place, you do not know
that there formerly dwelt in your land the
fairest and noblest race of men which ever
lived, and that you and your whole city are
descended from a small seed or remnant of
them which survived. And this was
unknown to you, because, for many
generations, the survivors of that
destruction died, leaving no written word.
• Now in this island of Atlantis there was a great
and wonderful empire which had rule over the
whole island and several others, and over parts
of the continent …
• But afterwards there occurred violent
earthquakes and floods; and in a single day and
night of misfortune all your warlike men in a
body sank into the earth, and the island of
Atlantis in like manner disappeared in the
depths of the sea. For which reason the sea in
those parts is impassable and impenetrable,
because there is a shoal of mud in the way; and
this was caused by the subsidence of the island.
Critias: Atlantis
•
Plato gave the world the oldest remaining
written account of Atlantis, in Critias, recorded
circa 370 BC. Plato described Atlantis as a
vast island-continent west of the
Mediterranean, surrounded by the Atlantic
ocean. Atlantis was governed in peace, was
rich in commerce, was advanced in knowledge,
and held dominion over the surrounding
islands and continents. By Plato's legend, the
people of Atlantis became complacent and their
leaders arrogant; in punishment the Gods
destroyed Atlantis, flooding it and submerging
the island in one day and night.
Critias: Atlantis
• they had such an amount of wealth as was
never before possessed by kings and
potentates, and is not likely ever to be
again, and they were furnished with
everything which they needed, both in the
city and country.
• Here was Poseidon's own temple which was
a stadium in length, and half a stadium in
width, and of a proportionate height, …. All
the outside of the temple, with the exception
of the pinnacles, they covered with silver,
and the pinnacles with gold. In the interior
of the temple the roof was of ivory,
curiously wrought everywhere with gold
and silver and orichalcum; and all the other
parts, the walls and pillars and floor, they
coated with orichalcum.
• Also whatever fragrant things there now are in the
earth, whether roots, or herbage, or woods, or
essences which distil from fruit and flower, grew
and thrived in that land; also the fruit which
admits of cultivation, both the dry sort, which is
given us for nourishment and any other which we
use for food-we call them all by the common name
pulse, and the fruits having a hard rind, affording
drinks and meats and ointments, and good store of
chestnuts and the like, which furnish pleasure and
amusement, and are fruits which spoil with
keeping, and the pleasant kinds of dessert, with
which we console ourselves after dinner, when we
are tired of eating-all these that sacred island which
then beheld the light of the sun, brought forth fair
and wondrous and in infinite abundance.
• With such blessings the earth freely furnished
them; meanwhile they went on constructing
their temples and palaces and harbours and
docks.
• Some of their buildings were simple, but in
others they put together different stones, varying
the colour to please the eye, and to be a natural
source of delight.
• Of the water which ran off they carried some to
the grove of Poseidon, where were growing all
manner of trees of wonderful height and
beauty, owing to the excellence of the soil, …;
and there were many temples built and
dedicated to many gods; also gardens and
places of exercise, some for men, and others for
horses in both of the two islands formed by the
zones; and in the centre of the larger of the two
there was set apart a race-course of a stadium
in width, and in length allowed to extend all
round the island, for horses to race in.
• The surrounding mountains were
celebrated for their number and size
and beauty, far beyond any which still
exist, having in them also many
wealthy villages of country folk, and
rivers, and lakes, and meadows
supplying food enough for every
animal, wild or tame, and much wood
of various sorts, abundant for each and
every kind of work.
• Twice in the year they gathered the
fruits of the earth-in winter having the
benefit of the rains of heaven, and in
summer the water which the land
supplied by introducing streams from
the canals.
• For many generations, as long as the divine
nature lasted in them, they were obedient to the
laws, and well-affectioned towards the god,
whose seed they were; for they possessed true
and in every way great spirits, uniting
gentleness with wisdom in the various chances
of life, and in their intercourse with one
another. They despised everything but virtue,
caring little for their present state of life, and
thinking lightly of the possession of gold and
other property, which seemed only a burden to
them; neither were they intoxicated by luxury;
nor did wealth deprive them of their selfcontrol; but they were sober, and saw clearly
that all these goods are increased by virtue and
friendship with one another, … .
• By such reflections and by the continuance in
them of a divine nature, the qualities which we
have described grew and increased among
them; but when the divine portion began to
fade away, and became diluted too often and
too much with the mortal admixture, and the
human nature got the upper hand, they then,
being unable to bear their fortune, behaved
unseemly, and to him who had an eye to see
grew visibly debased, for they were losing the
fairest of their precious gifts; but to those who
had no eye to see the true happiness, they
appeared glorious and blessed at the very time
when they were full of avarice and unrighteous
power.
• Zeus, the god of gods, who rules according
to law, and is able to see into such things,
perceiving that an honourable race was in a
woeful plight, and wanting to inflict
punishment on them, that they might be
chastened and improve, collected all the
gods into their most holy habitation, which,
being placed in the centre of the world,
beholds all created things. And when he had
called them together, he spake as follows-*

Ancient Technology
• The Antikythira's Calculator was an
astronomical instrument of great value .
A system of 30 different wheel gears
informed the user about the moves of the
Sun , the moon and the other planets in
the Solar System.
• In 1944 Newton
Anderson claimed to
have found this bell
inside a lump of coal
that was mined near
his house in West
Virginia. When
Newton dropped the
lump it broke,
revealing a bell
encased inside.
• In June, 1851, Scientific
American reprinted a report
from the Boston Transcript
about how a metallic vase,
found in two parts, was
dynamited out of solid rock 15
feet below the surface in
Dorchester, Mass.
• The bell-shaped vase (see
photo), measuring 4-1/2 inches
high and 6-1/2 inches at the
base, was composed of a zinc
and silver alloy. On the sides
were figures of flowers in
bouquet arrangements, inlaid
with pure silver. The estimated
age of the rock out of which it
came: 100,000 years.

Ancient Maps
• ....hard evidence that shows the ancient's knowledge of
planet earth as seen through their cartographers eyes
was far more sophisticated than we have previously
supposed. Their maps are surprisingly accurate and
reveal knowledge of parts of the earth that were not
known until very recently. They also show profound
changes have taken place in man's lifetime since the
flood, especially at the poles as you shall see. :
• Maps drawn from the 11th to the 17th century were
obviously copied from maps probably drawn thousands
of years before. Some maps show Greenland and
Antarctica free of ice. (The Piri Reis Map from 1513
shows Antartica):
Piri Re'is
Map of
1513
• There is a map,
dating from
1513, which was
made by a man
named Piri Ibn
Haji Memmed,
otherwise known
as Piri Re'is. This
man was an
Admiral in the
Turkish navy.
Today we only
have a fragment
of the original
map.
• Unfortunately for
some there are maps,
dating from at least
the early 1500's that
not only indicate the
existence of
Antarctica, but also
map its coastline in
amazing detail.
• One such map is the
Oronteus Finaeus
World Map of 1532.
The section of this
map indicting
Antarctica is shown

As bright as the thousand suns
Rose in all its splendour...

...the cloud of smoke
rising after its first explosion

..it was an unknown weapon,
• An iron thunderbolt,
A gigantic messenger of death,
Which reduced to ashes
The entire race of the Vrishnis and the Andhakas.
...The corpses were so burned
As to be unrecognizable.
The hair and nails fell out;
Pottery broke without apparent cause,
And the birds turned white.
After a few hours
All foodstuffs were infected...

The soldiers threw themselves in streams
To wash themselves and their equipment.
Ancient verses from the Mahabharata: (6500 B.C.?)
• Archaeologists have found an
extensive and sophisticated system
of sewers, drainage, drinking and
bath water pipes in Crete and
Thera. Private homes had flush
toilets and bathtubs. It appears
Minoans heated their houses and
had hot and cold running water
from hydrothermal vents.
Ellen White comments
• There perished in the Flood greater
inventions of art and human skill than the
world knows of today. The arts destroyed
were more than the boasted arts of today.
• Letter 65, 1898
• More was lost in the Flood, in many ways,
than men today know.
• Letter 24, 1899
• Those who lived before the Flood come
forth with their giant-like stature, more than
twice as tall as men now living on the earth,
and well proportioned. The generations
after the flood were less in stature.

Noah’s Ark
• Dimensions 437.5 feet x 72.9 feet x 44 feet.
• Josephus mentions the remains of Noah's Ark
three times. All are found in the
ANTIQUITIES OF THE JEWS.
• 13th Century AD - Marco Polo mentions in
his book The Travels of Marco Polo the Ark
was still resting on the summit of Mt. Ararat.
• The original news release from Constantinople
has never been located, but possibly the most
complete and accurate account of the discovery
appeared in the British Prophetic Messenger in
the summer of 1883. Quoting as its source the
Levant Herald, it read as follows:
The expedition was fortunate in making a
discovery that cannot fail to be of interest to
the whole civilized world, for among the
vastnesses of one of the glens of Mount
Ararat, they came upon a gigantic structure
of very dark wood, embedded at the foot of
one of the glaciers, with one end protruding,
and which they believe to be none other
then the old Ark in which Noah and his
family navigated the waters of the deluge.

The Flood in Genesis
• Genesis 6: 5 And God saw that the wickedness of
man was great in the earth, and that every
imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only
evil continually.
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made
man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I
have created from the face of the earth; both man,
and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of
the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
• 11 The earth also was corrupt before God,
and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and,
behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had
corrupted his way upon the earth.
• Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of
Noah's life, in the second month, the
seventeenth day of the month, the same day
were all the fountains of the great deep
broken up, and the windows of heaven were
opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty
days and forty nights.
• 18 And the waters prevailed, and were
increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark
went upon the face of the waters.
19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly
upon the earth; and all the high hills, that
were under the whole heaven, were
covered.

Where did the water go?
Psalm 104:6-9
You covered it with the deep as with a garment;
The waters stood above the mountains.
At Your rebuke they fled;
At the voice of Your thunder they hastened away.
They went up over the mountains;
They went down into the valleys,
To the place which You founded for them.
You have set a boundary that they may not pass over,
That they may not return to cover the earth.
Psalm 104:8
The mountains rose, the valleys sank down, to
the place which thou didst appoint for them.

• Jasher 7:19 These are the generations of
Shem; Shem begat Arpachshad and
Arpachshad begat Shelach, and Shelach
begat Eber and to Eber were born two
children, the name of one was Peleg, for in

Jesus and the Flood
• Jesus referred to the Flood as a historical event.
• Matthew 24: 37 But as the days of Noe were, so
shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood
they were eating and drinking, marrying and
giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered
into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took
them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son
of man be.

• O man of Shuruppak, son of Ubartutu: Tear
down the house and build a boat! Abandon
wealth and seek living beings! Spurn
possessions and keep alive living beings!
Make all living beings go up into the boat.
The boat which you are to build, its
dimensions must measure equal to each
other: its length must correspond to its
width. Roof it over like the Apsu.
• I watched the appearance of the weather-- the
weather was frightful to behold! I went into the
boat and sealed the entry …. Just as dawn began to
glow there arose from the horizon a black cloud. …
Stunned shock over Adad's deeds overtook the
heavens, and turned to blackness all that had been
light. The... land shattered like a... pot. All day long
the South Wind blew ..., blowing fast, submerging
the mountain in water, overwhelming the people
like an attack. No one could see his fellow, they
could not recognize each other in the torrent. The
gods were frightened by the Flood, and retreated,
ascending to the heaven of Anu.
• On Mt. Nimush the boat lodged firm, Mt. Nimush held
the boat, allowing no sway. One day and a second Mt.
Nimush held the boat, allowing no sway. A third day, a
fourth, Mt. Nimush held the boat, allowing no sway. A
fifth day, a sixth, Mt. Nimush held the boat, allowing no
sway. When a seventh day arrived I sent forth a dove
and released it. The dove went off, but came back to me;
no perch was visible so it circled back to me. I sent forth
a swallow and released it. The swallow went off, but
came back to me; no perch was visible so it circled back
to me. I sent forth a raven and released it. The raven
went off, and saw the waters slither back. It eats, it
scratches, it bobs, but does not circle back to me. Then I
sent out everything in all directions and sacrificed (a
sheep). I offered incense in front of the mountainziggurat.
Geneologies from Noah
On Thursday 6th July 1600, a certain Elizabethan tourist, Baron
Waldstein, visited London's Lambeth Palace. His journal tells
us that in one of the rooms there he saw:
'...a splendid genealogy of all the Kings of England, and another
genealogy, a historical one, which covers the whole of time
and is traced down from the Beginning of the World.' (1)
Later, arriving at Richmond Palace on 28th July, he saw in the
library there:
'... beautifully set out on parchment, a genealogy of the kings of
England which goes back to Adam.' (2)
Such genealogies were immensely popular, and as fascinating to
the general public as they were to historians and other
scholars.
After the Flood, by Bill Cooper, Chapter 6
Figure 1. Illuminated manuscript,
ca. 1461, illustrates the complexity
and political ramifications of royal
genealogies. This 20-foot-long

establishing Edward’s legitimacy as
monarch. The portion of the roll
