Crocodiles are large aquatic reptiles. They have streamline bodies that able tem to swim swiftly and strongly. Crocodiles also have webbed feet, an advantage in shallow water. They eat fish, small reptiles, mammals and sometimes even insects. The larger animal the larger the prey.

Crocodiles live through out the tropics in Africa, Asia, The Americas and Australia. Their habitats are suitable River, wetlands and lakes.

These amazing creatures have survived the extinction of the dinosaurs and they can live to be 100 years old.

Freshwater Crocodiles are found only in Australia. They are found in Western Aussie, Queensland and Northern Territory. Their habitat consists of freshwater wetlands, billabongs, rivers and creeks. Males can grow to be 3 metres long, and females can get to 2.1 metres long, Although in areas such as Lake Argyle and Katherine Gorge they can get to 4 metres long. Freshwater Crocodiles eat fish, small mammals like wallabies and small reptiles. Freshwater Crocodiles are known by lots of names such as Johnstons Crocodile, Fish Crocodile or simply Freshie.

The larger the animal, the larger the prey. The saltwater crocodile has fewer amour plates than other crocodiles, but it is still a deadly predator.
