BENEFITS OF IMPLEMENTING ENERGY EFFICIENCY PROGRAM
FOR LIGHTING PRODUCTS
•
Annual technical potential for energy savings from EELs is estimated to be 2,046 GWh.
•
This represents a 65% reduction in direct indoor residential lighting electricity use and a 28%
cooling bonus due to reduced air conditioning demand.
•
92% of the savings is associated with the elimination of incandescent lamps with CFLs.
•
All of the EEL options modelled were found to economically viable in all Emirates.
•
Total Social benefits are estimated to 1.3 billion AED per year
– 587 million AED for households in lower electric bills
– 721 million AED for government in reduced subsidies
Significant economic benefits for households and government
were estimated even under the conservative set of baseline
assumptions used in the analysis
