MAPPING AFRICA FOR AFRICA
The next project being worked on is:
Guidelines for Best Practice for the
Acquisition, Storage, Maintenance and
Dissemination of Fundamental Geo-spatial
Datasets
‘Hands-on’ toolkit;
Based on expertise and experience from
around the world;
Appropriate for African conditions.
Slide 3
Guidelines of Best Practice
• Minimal to no theory but practical guide
• Include standards, procedures, example
specifications
• Produced in print (hardcopy), digital (CD)
and web (on-line)
• Estimated 1000 pages @ A4
• English with translation into French
• Will be a ‘living’ document with updates
• As chapters are completed they will be
distributed – no need to wait for complete
document to be ready
