Check the Plans
Find the Base Detail – In Our Example it is 4”
Tall
 Determine How High the Finish Floor Will Be
From the Subfloor-In Our Example it is 0”
 4” + 0” = 4” , The Height at Which the UMB is
Installed

STEP 2 Preparing for Installation
Cut a Square Block, 4” by 4”
 Use it as a Height Gauge to Set the UMB on

STEP 3 Installation of the UMB
Measure , Cut and Install the UMB
 Install the Same as Any Base

STEP 4 Installing the Drywall
Set the Drywall Sheet on the UMB
 Hold the Sheet Out at the Top
 Use Your Knee Keep the Bottom on the
Channel
 Slide the Drywall into Channel

STEP 5 Fastening the Drywall
Fasten the Drywall as you Always Do.
 In Addition Put 2 Screws Between Studs
Just Barely Above the Taping Flange
into the UMB as Shown

STEP 6 Tape the Joint

Whether you Use Screen or
Paper Tape-Be Sure to Tape
the Joint
STEP 6 Apply Bonder
For Screen Tape Bonder After
 For Paper Tape Apply Bonder First

STEP 6 Tape and Finish Drywall
