Open Demo Project 7 Select the requested demo file by clicking on the respective bookmarks Wait until all 4 windows have opened: 1-Netzstatus, 2-Trend, 3-Oscillogram, 4-Telegramme_Frames Now you can start your presentation to the customer. You do not need a Profibus network for this! © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 4. Open Demo Project (contd.) 8 click on „1-Netzstatus_Networkstatus .npb“ First overview with one mouse click. Potential problems are clearly indicated and distinguished by bus communication or bus physics. + Select „Busanfang“ as test location 4 windows for easy operation: • Overview • Protocol, • Bus Physics • Topology First indication: or Green light indicates: All values are okay => Traffic light is green „Communication is okay“ Green light indicates: „bus physics are okay“ Result: Everything looks good if measured from the master ! All quality levels above limit => Traffic light is green © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 5. Profibus-DIAG Suite The Overview Window 9 Now select „Busende 15“ as test location First indication: There is a problem ! Green light indicates: All values are okay => Traffic light is green © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 5. Profibus-DIAG Suite The Overview Window (contd.) „Communication is okay“ yellow light indicates: „bus physics are critical while bus is running“ All critical values are marked by red ink: In this case 5 out of 7 Stations show bad quality => Traffic light is yellow Result: Measurement from other end indicates bad signal quality. Check Signal Quality for further details ! 10 Click on „Signal Quality“ Click on „Signal Analysis Settings“ for sorting bar graph Click on „Stations“ and select „Auto sort by distance“ Result: bars will be sorted acc. to the correct topology for easy interpretation! This is a unique feature ! © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 6. Profibus-DIAG Suite The Signal Quality Window 11 Make Reflections visible: Select „Busende 15“ A Double Click on bar #2 opens the oscilloscope view Select „Busanfang 2“ Result: Reflections on the bus Worst situation at „Busende 15“ strong refections smaller refections © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 6. Profibus-DIAG Suite The Signal Quality Window (contd.) 12 © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 6. Profibus-DIAG Suite The Signal Quality Window (contd.) Localize the failure with the Oscilloscope: Select „Busende 15“ Click on bar #2 increase zoom to 62,5 ns Place cursor 1 to rising flank Place cursor 2 to distortion => Now you can read the distance from measuring point „Busende 15“ to the point where the reflection is caused: 22,8 m Distance 22,8 m 13 Now you can compare the distances between the failure and the different stations: Click on bar #2 Place cursors Now distance is 22,8 m Click on bar #12 Place cursors Now distance is only 12,5 m Click on bar #15 (Busend) Now distance is 0 m and no distortion Result: the reflections are caused at end of bus at #15 (missing terminator). Consequently no reflections can be seen there. © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 6. Profibus-DIAG Suite The Signal Quality Window (contd.) 14 Click on „Topology“ The topology view gives you: - the correct sequence of the Profibus nodes - the distance between the nodes - the complete cable length © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 7. Profibus-DIAG Suite The Topology Window 15 Click on „Protocol“ Click on Segment View Life List Green = data exchange okay Yellow = slave reports diagnose Orange = config or param failure Red = no answer, node is dead Blue = node not configured in Master Bus cycle time Number of Retries, Diagnose, Restarts indicate early problems in the network Log for starting up communication between master and slaves => For further info: Manual PB-DIAG Suite page 27 © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 8. Profibus-DIAG Suite The Protocol Window 16 By clicking on the slaves you get specific info on each device. Click through the slaves to show different diagnose messages of different slaves in clear text (not only hex strings) Check GSD-file configuration: Expected GSD = real GSD ? If not => configuration failure Configuration can be seen under configuration bookmark Large variation of Station Delay Times indicates a problem of the slave Log file of the selected slave If you prefer the matrix overview, you may use this as well: - Click on segment - Select „Station Statistics“ - You can display all events or select „retries“, „diagnose“, „set parameters“ for each node © Softing Industrial Automation GmbH 2010 8.
