Money
The positive numbers represent money in your
pocket while the negative numbers represent
money that you owe to someone.
The money in your pocket is positive
The money that you owe is negative
The money in your pocket is

I have $9 in my pocket

The money that you owe
is negative
I owe $9

Adding money
When adding two amounts of money in both pockets (4
and 3), for example, the answer has to be a bigger number
than each one and the result is a positive number.
4+3=7
7 is the same as +7
When adding two amounts of money that you owe (-3
and -8), the answer has to be negative. -3 - 8 = -11
I have no money the
answer is negative.
If there is more money in your pocket than you owe the answer will
be positive.
For example: 9 - 5 = 4
9-5=4

Q: Where do I have more money?
A: In my pocket
The answer is positive (+4 or 4)
If the money that owe is more than the money in your pocket
then the answer will be negative.
For example: 8 - 10 = -2
8 - 10 = - 2

Q: Do I have more money in my pocket?
A: No
The answer is negative (- 2 )
Positive Integers
-Are to the right of zero
-The sign for a positive integer is (+), however the sign is
not always needed.
For example: +5 is the same value as 5.
Negative Integers
-To the left of zero
-Valued less than zero.
-The sign for a negative integer is (-). This sign is
always needed.
Greater
Numbers on the right are bigger than numbers on the left
Smaller
Examples:
4 is smaller than 7
−2 is smaller than 2
−6 is smaller than −3
