Suggested by Karsten Smith, designed by Herbert Stewart & built by volunteers,
the chalet when sold financed Toronto’s first Subud hall.

Volunteers drove up to Collingwood every weekend for 3 years to help.

Herbert’s design was a fusion of ancient Japanese and Frank Lloyd Wright, featuring
handpainted sliding screens and a sunken fireplace with built-in seating.

In the late sixties, the Skymonters formed a touring band and helped
established a Subud community called Skymont in West Virginia.

film stars Patricia, Rosanna and David, grew up at Skymont.
