A. Introduction to Ning®
Ning® is a social networking site competing with MySpace® and
Facebook®. Ning® provides members the tools to create their own
platform, similar to those sites, that are specific to their
interests. For example, a member could create a site about "pet
friendly hotels across America" where members could congregate
to learn more about pet friendly hotels as well as post information
they know about the topic.
A hotel could use this platform as w ay to promote their hotel‘s
market niche. For example, an eco-friendly hotel could focus their
site on "green" features and connect with people interested in
learning more about green features.

D. How to Set Up Your Hotel on Ning®
To set up your free account, do the following:
1. Go to: http://www.ning.com.
2. Enter a name for your social network (suggestion, your
property name).
3. Now, pick your website address for Ning® and enter it (for
example, yourpropertyname.ning.com).
4. Click the “create” button.
5. You’ll now be taken to the signup page.
6. Complete the signup form, enter CAPTCH and click the ‘sign
up’ button.

7. You will then receive a message to verify your email address.
8. Click on the verification link in the email you receive.
9. You will be taken to a verification screen to enter your
password.
10. Enter your password and click enter.
11. You will be taken to another page to describe your network.
12. Mark the network public.
13. Follow the instructions on the following pages which will build
and design your network site.

E. How to Manage Your Ning® network
To manage your Ning® account, regularly do the following:
 Invite your friends, associates and family members to join.
 Ask these new members to invite their friends, associates and
family members.
 Be creative. Design your site to reflect your hotel’s location
and unique personality.
 Be sure to add information about your hotel regularly. Your
members are members because they want to know.
