TILE
• Quality:
• For us, quality starts right in the production stage, as our supplier
only employs the very best raw materials for our tiles – and they
are sourced locally from our region. Some states boast large
deposits of bedrock and fine raw materials in the earth, which are
used to produce the tiles. This ensures short distances and,
similarly, rapid realisation.
• All our tiles are tested for quality and quantity in the laboratory. In
addition, the surfaces of each individual tile are continually
checked throughout the production process.
• Our products comply with DIN EN 14411, with some of the
parameters it contains even being considerably exceeded. In a
final step, our quality management department ensures that only
particularly high-quality tiles make it into our warehouses and
then to you.
TILE
• TILES 101
• A tile is not just a tile. There are glazed and unglazed tiles, which are mainly produced
from earthenware and stoneware.
• Earthenware tiles are dry-pressed and at > 10% the water absorption is relatively high. For
this reason, the face of the tiles must always be glazed. Earthenware tiles are typically
used as a wall covering in interior spaces due to their poor resistance to frost.
• Stoneware tiles are dry-pressed and densely fired. The water absorption is thus low (0.5 to
3%). They are frost-resistant, can be used both indoors and outdoors and are typically
used as a floor covering, although they can also be used on walls in principle.
• Porcelain stoneware tiles are also dry-pressed and very densely fired (water absorption =
0.5%). For this reason, they are laid with “tempered” mortars and adhesives.
• Border tiles are thin, rectangular, decorative tiles (usually as wide as the regular tiles),
which are laid in a band at the top of a tiled wall, for example, to bolster the effect of the
space.
• Split tiles are extruded. The water absorption is usually between 3 and 6%. They are
particularly suited to outdoor applications (can also be laid in mortar).
•
Stoneware slabs are also extruded and boast a low water absorption of 3%. Due to their
resistance to frost, they are ideal for outdoor and indoor use on walls and floors.
How do you recognise good laminate flooring?
All our laminate flooring models are certified as well as being tested during
the individual production stages and assessed in accordance with our
quality standards!
An additional criterion for our laminate flooring is not only the fair market
value, but also the service which goes hand-in-hand with the product.
Furthermore, the structure of the laminate flooring should also be given
attention. The specifications concerning the details (hardness, MADE IN
GERMANY...)are printed on every packaged unit. Further information
includes:
- Laminate thickness (6 mm / 7 mm and 8 mm) with high abrasion
resistance.
- Incl. impact sound insulation
- How many layers do the panels have?
- Is the supporting level composed of a high-density fibreboard (HDF),
which is particularly stable?
- Is the quality of the edges explicitly emphasised?
