YEAR 11 – WHAT INFORMATION DO STUDENTS RECEIVE? • Individual timetables for mocks (November). • List of G.C.S.E. Entries (end of January). - Parents given short window to negotiate with staff. • Preliminary exam. timetable (by Easter). • Final exam. timetable (end of April). ABSENCE • Booking holidays – please think and check. • Medical Appointments: - mocks. - internal exams. • Illness. • Broken bones. • Lateness. TALK TO ME!!!!! GCSE REVISION TIPS HOW CAN YOU ENSURE THAT YOUR CHILD REVISES EFFECTIVELY? WHEN SHOULD I BE REVISING? • Revision should be ongoing – Mocks are important too! ORGANISATION • The organisation of the exercise book, folder or file is crucial • Handwriting is also important. Work must be legible. ACTIVE REVISION • Note-taking and highlighting • Recording key facts and listening back • Structured questionand-answer with a friend • Get your child to explain to you what has just been revised • Past papers BREAK THE SUBJECT DOWN • What do I not understand? • What do I more or less understand? • What do I understand fully?
