My countries name is Togo. The citizens of
Togo call their country Républic Togolaise.
The people of Togo are called Togolese.
Country- Togo
Continent- Africa

Togo is in the Northern Hemisphere.
Togo is on the African Plate.

Togo is 0º-2º East latitude and 11º- 8º
North longitude.
Togo is on the south coast of West Africa.
West to Togo is Ghana, north is Burkina
Faso and east is Benin.
The capital of Togo is Lomé. The
population of Lomé is 1 570 283 (2011).
Lomé is also the largest city in Togo.

The area of Togo is 56 000 sq Km.
-Togo has five regions the far south is made
up of sandy costal strip.
-North of the coast is fertile clay and soil.
-The third region, Mono Tableland is made
up of clay.
-The forth region is North of Tableland is
mainly a mountains area.
-The last one is far north is the rolling
sandstone Oti Plateau.

Togo is dry, hot, periodic droughts and
high winds lessens visibility during winter.
In the south of Togo is humid and the
temperatures goes from 23°C -32°C (75°F
-90°F).
 In the south of Togo the temperatures
are greater than the south and are 18°C38°C (65°F -100°F).
 Togo’s climate are tropical and
savanna.

Togo’s land produces yams, cassava,
corn, beans, rice millet, sorghum, cotton,
coffee, peanuts and palm oil.
 Togo mines phosphate, chromite,
bauxite, limestone and iron.


Togo has a lot of use of wood for fuel
water pollution gives health hazards. Air
pollution increasing in urban areas.

The major industries are manufacturing,
mining and forestry.

Togo’s currency (money) is the Franc.
(1 CFA franc= 100 centimes)

Togo’s government is Republic
transitioning to democratic rule.


the people wearing their
traditional clothing.
The Voltaic and Kwa people were the first
know inhabitants The Ewe came in the
14th century and the Ane in the 18th
century.
In 1998 the longest rule died and the
military installed his son Faure
Gnassingbé to serve out his term.
 He took office Feb.7. A month later they
had an election which led to a violent
protest. Gnassingbé still won 60% of the
votes and was elected president.


The Portuguese came to Togo in the 15th
century after that the Danes, French,
British and Germans.

The religions in in Togo are mainly
Roman Catholic, Christen and Muslim.

Togo’s population is 6,961,049 . (2012)

The growth in Togo is 4.9%.

The people of Togo’s life expectancy is
63.17; density.

The people of Togo speak mostly
French. Sometimes Ewe and other
African languages.

Togo has free primary schooling for ages
6-12. They also have general, technical
and missionary schools.
