Explanation of the Logo
•As the Universal Church prepares for the XIV Ordinary Synod with the focus on the
family, the vital cell of the society, the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman dedicates this
year to enhance the apostolate for Goan families, calling them to be what they are.
•The Trinity is the origin and the apex of communion of love. The Trinity is depicted
with the sublime hand symbolising The Father, the Creator. The Cross symbolising the
sacrifice of Christ, our Redeemer and the Dove, carrying the flame, The Holy Spirit,
the creative power to renew, reconcile and rebuild relationships.
•The cross that begins from the chalice and passes through the two roofs is a reminder
of the covenant fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The two roofs are placed to show a close link
between the family (domestic Church) and the Church (cf. Eph.2:21-22; 1Pet.2:5).
•The family, placed around the chalice, is a sign of Gods’ covenant with man,
witnessed by spouses, breaking themselves to each other. The Eucharist is the source
and the summit to live the communion and mission of love. The Eucharist builds
Divine life and empowers the family to be open to life.
•The yellow three rays moving outwards depict the vocation and mission of the family
in the Church and society.
•The green colour on the globe indicates that families are to embrace the Culture of
life. The blue colour indicates the family as a community spreading peace and
tranquility.
