THE 8085 BUS
ORGANIZATION
BUS ORGANIZATION
• DATA BUS
• ADDRESS BUS
• CONTROL BUS
8085 BUS ORGANIZATION
• To make the complete system using a microprocessor,
We need to interface the microprocessor with the
memory and other input / output devices.
• This interfacing is achieved by mean of connecting no. of
line between the microprocessor and memory /
peripheral devices.
• The specific group of line is called a bus which actually
transfer the bit from the microprocessor to peripheral
devices and vice versa.
DATA BUS
• It is a bidirectional bus which allows the transfer of the
data between the microprocessor and memory or
peripheral devices.
• In the 8085 , it is 8-bit bidirectional bus. Which can carry
8-bit of information at a time.
ADDRESS BUS
• It is unidirectional bus which carries address of memory
location or port no. of a peripheral device.
• In the 8085, address bus is 16-bit. The no. of lines in the
address bus also determine the total amount of memory
accessed by the microprocessor.
• For example, the 8085 can access total 64 Kbytes of
memory because it has 16-bit address bus.
CONTROL BUS
• It consists of various signal lines that carries
synchronization signal which act as an handshake
signals between the microprocessor and peripheral
devices.
• As an example, the microprocessor send an appropriate
signal to activate the memory devices in order to read or
write the data.
