What is this world watch all about?
I decided each week to look at key events that had happened in that week
and look at them with the Bible in hand.
I hope to build up a picture of Gods hand working in the affairs of this
world bringing about that day when all nations will be gathered to
Jerusalem to battle which will be brought to end when the Lord
Jesus Christ physically returns from heaven to set up Gods kingdom.
The key areas which will crop up time and again will be
1. Israel – Middle East the growing conflict
2. Europe – the developing union / political and religious
3. Russia – continued turning back to anti west ways
4. The development of King of South – US & UK
5. Declining moral standards and increasing violence.

Weekly Developments
These are just a few of the events that have caught my eye in the
previous week. It is in no way meant to be exhaustive – just a look at
those events I saw as significant from a Bible viewpoint.
Headlines
These are always headlines printed in the newspaper – the date is always
given and which paper. Normally the Daily Telegraph. (DT)
Event
This is usually the newspapers take on the events that have happened. It
will always be a direct quote from the newspaper.
Comment
This is my take on why it is interesting from a Bible point of view. The
idea of this weekly world watch is to give a quick Biblical perspective
without going into detail. If more detail is needed please email me.

EC draws up school lessons in European

Event
All children will be taught about European integration and the objectives and values of
the Community under new rules, which have been branded a “demented Eurocurriculum.”
Pupils throughout the 25 member states will be expected to master eight “key
competencies” under the recommendations drawn up by the European Commission
and approved by the British Government.
Comment
Europe is a project based on Babel. The first kingdom of men. Babel was a kingdom that
set itself in opposition to God. It had rules and religions made by men which God
bought to an end by confusing their language. Those different languages are found
in the different countries of modern Europe.
Europe has also made rules of men (The Rights of Man) and is also bound by a false
religion (Roman Catholicism). It is trying to reunite people separated by God.
With the re-emergence of the beast of Revelation 17 we see a re-emergence of the
propaganda that comes with it. For it has to constantly tell the “community” why it
is right to bring all nations together. What better way than to teach young children
about itself and its ideals and what it stands for.
Children (they believe) will then grow up accepting and ultimately worshipping it. This
headline and report is a sign that Revelation 17 is being fulfilled.

US turns on missile shield as Korea fears grow

Event
America has activated its multi-billion-dollar missile defence shield for the
first time, it emerged yesterday, as concern mounted that North Korea
was preparing to launch a long-range ballistic missile.
With a typical blast of fiery rhetoric, the Marxist regime suggested it had no intention of
backing down over what would be its most bellicose step in eight years, saying it was
not bound by a four-year moratorium on missile tests.
The news that the Pentagon had switched its missile interceptor system from test mode to
operational overshadowed President George W Bush's departure for today's key USEU summit.
Comment
The world is getting ready for war. Little reported this week have been a number of major
military exercises. One of them was the largest military exercise by the United States
for decades this week in the Pacific. US officials said that it was to show that the US
can swiftly muster a huge combat force in the region. The 5 day exercise massed an
armada of 3 aircraft carriers and 25 other ships along with 22,000 other troops and
280 warplanes!
The communist regime of Korea would almost certainly join forces with Gog against
Israel at the time of the end. With the focus on Iran at the moment this communistic
regime is taking advantage. We see the tensions in the nations mounting.

Event
President George W Bush told Europeans yesterday it was "absurd" to
regard the United States as the greatest threat to world peace, as he concluded an
EU-US summit overshadowed by disputes on Guantanamo Bay and trans-Atlantic
trade barriers.
A visibly annoyed Mr Bush was responding to a journalist's question about opinion polls,
asking why most Europeans believe the United States is a greater menace than Iran
or North Korea.
"It's absurd, is my statement," Mr Bush snapped, taking the microphone ahead of the
president of the European Commission in his haste to answer the question. "We'll
defend ourselves, but we are working with our partners to spread peace and
democracy around the world."
Comment
And so the following day (after switching on America’s missile defence system) President
Bush visits Europe and is visibly annoyed.
The relationship between the US and Europe is at a very low ebb indeed since the Iraq
war.
But again this is exactly what we would expect. Britain and her young lions (America,
Canada, Australia etc) on the one side and Europe and Russia (and allies) on the
other. The pivotal point of course at the time of the final war will be Israel.
This war is described in some detail in Daniel Ch 11 verse 40 to the end.

Headline Russian military exercise with Belarus
Russia Says Exercises Have No Direct Focus

Event
Military exercises between Russian and Belarusian forces the largest ever for the two
former Soviet republics are not directed toward any nation, alliance or enemy in
particular, Russia's defence minister said Thursday.
Sergei Ivanov spoke as defence ministers from the six-nation Collective Security Treaty
Organization gathered in the Belarusian capital of Minsk on the sixth day of the
military drills which feature about 7,000 Belarusian and 1,800 Russian troops.
"This Russian-Belarusian exercise does not have an aggressive nature and is not directed
toward anyone," Ivanov told a news conference.
Ivanov also said Russia and Kazakhstan would stage another military exercise under the
framework of treaty organization later this year.
The exercises envisage a joint response to an unnamed, outside military threat. Russian
MiG-29 fighter jets practiced intercepting enemy planes over western Belarus over
the weekend, as part of the drills.
Comment
More preparation for war this week. This time Russia and Belarus in war games.
Belarus became independent in 1991 with the collapse of the USSR. Since 1994 it has
been ruled with an increasingly iron fist by President Lukashenko. He won a 3rd
term in March this year which America disputed.
Belarus is on the fault line between Europe and Russia. It is where East meets West. The
frog like spirit in the East is Equality (Communism) - it brings only totalitarianism.

Event
The Earth is running a slight fever from greenhouse gases, after enjoying relatively stable
temperatures for 2,000 years. The National Academy of Sciences, after
reconstructing global average surface temperatures for the past two millennia, said
Thursday the data are "additional supporting evidence … that human activities are
responsible for much of the recent warming."
Other new research showed that global warming produced about half of the extra
hurricane-fuelled warmth in the North Atlantic in 2005, and natural cycles were a
minor factor, according to Kevin Trenberth and Dennis Shea of the National Center
for Atmospheric Research, a research lab sponsored by the National Science
Foundation and universities.
Comment
There is no doubt that man is destroying the planet. Earth is sick. It is sick both physically
and spiritually. It is interesting that as the spiritual sickness gets worse (i.e.
godlessness, wickedness, immorality etc) so the physical sickness gets worse as well.
(i.e. drought, storm, earthquake etc). The 2 things are linked. They were linked at
the very beginning in the Garden of Eden. When man sinned the earth was cursed.
When Jesus returns sin will be removed eventually from the entire earth i.e. the spiritual
sickness will be over. The physical earth will then be cured with no more earthquake,
drought and pestilence. Jesus born 2000 years ago is earth’s only hope.

Event
New Syria-Iranian defence treaty opens way for Iran's Revolutionary Guards
to deploy on Israel’s Golan border by summer’s end.
Iranian defence minister Gen. Mustafa Najjar said: “Syria’s security is part
of Iran’s security,” when he signed a new military treaty with his Syrian counterpart,
Gen. Hassan Turkmani (picture) in Tehran last Thursday.
Iran has offered to deploy Revolutionary Guards on the Golan border with
Israel by the end of summer, because as Najjar said at the signing: “We have a
common front against Israel’s threats.”
DEBKAfile’s Tehran sources disclose the Iranians seek to attain three objectives by
deploying RG units to the Golan heights:
1. Another direct front line against Israel.
2. A forward position for an Iranian electronic warning station to sound a timely alarm of
the takeoff of American warplanes or missiles from the eastern Mediterranean basin
on their way to attack.
3. The station can also keep electronic track of movements on Israeli air and missile
bases, covering also Arrow anti-missile missile systems.
Comment
Israel is being surrounded for judgement. The verse below (not specifically talking of
Iran) speaks of God bringing a nation against Israel. He will do so again.
