“Ours is a society where people know
the price of everything, but the value
of nothing – where people have a great
deal to live on, but very little to live
for.”
~ Randy Alcorn
“Riches and abundance come
hypocritically clad in sheep’s clothing
pretending to be security against
anxieties; and they then become the
very object of those anxieties.”
~ Soren Kierkegaard
“Make as much as you can, save as
much as you can, and give as much as
you can.”
~ John Wesley
“The lust for affluence in
contemporary society is psychotic. It
is time we awaken to the fact that
conformity to a sick society is to be
sick.”
~ Richard Foster
“All of us die.
Yet, not all of us live.”
~ Gary Buffone, Psychologist
“The history of North American
evangelicalism is a history of supporting
the middle class values of American
culture. There was no appeal to abandon
most of the standards of the respectable
middle class way of life. It was to those
standards that people were called.”
~ George Marsden, Christian Historian
“Money never stays with me. It would
burn me if it did. I throw it out of my
hands as soon as possible, lest it
should find its way within my heart.”
~ John Wesley
“Vision without action remains
only a daydream.”
~ Dr. Gary Buffone, Psychologist
“Western Christians buy into middle
class aspirations such as
consumerism, individualism, careerism,
and security.”
~ Mike Rddell
“Far from challenging the growing
individualism and consumerism of
modern culture, many churches have
bought into it.”
~ Christine Sine
“Simplicity is the only thing that
sufficiently reorients our lives so that
possessions can be genuinely enjoyed
without destroying us.”
~ Richard J. Foster
“The abundance to which Jesus pointed
was explicitly not the abundance of
possessions. It was the abundance of the
restored relationship, the Godrelationship. It was the freedom to enjoy
the community – the giving-and-receiving
relationship with one another for which we
were created.”
~ William Gibson
“We can only be healthy human beings to
the extent that we invest time in building
significant relationships and connecting to
supportive communities. We can only be
vital Christians to the extent that we are
in communities where we are known,
loved, and held accountable.”
~ Christine Sine
“Only a life lived for others is a life
worthwhile.”
~ Albert Einstein
“Measure wealth not by the things you
have, but by the things you have that
you would not take money for.”
~ Russ Crosson
“More and more of us seem to be
seeking to meet our needs for intimacy
and community through the things we
buy, but it isn’t working.”
~ Paul Wachtel, Psychologist
“We need to become more concerned
about raising the standard of loving
instead of the standard of living.”
~ Vera Shaw
“There is no such thing as ‘private’
lifestyle choices. We do indeed live in
an interdependent interconnected
world in which our decisions impact
the lives of people half a world away.”
~ Christine Sine
“Evangelism used to be about helping
people to believe so they could belong.
Now it is more about helping people to
belong so they can believe. I think this is
the way it was always meant to be.”
~ George Hunter,
The Celtic Way Of Evangelism
“There is no such thing as a solitary
Christian, an isolated disciple in the
Gospels. To respond to the call of
Jesus is to embark on a journey with
others.”
~ Athol Gill
“It seems clear from his actions that
Jesus did not want his message of
love primarily passed on through a
book, but through a community.”
~ Bruxy Cavey
“What kind of a guy would quote
himself in a Sunday service… sheesh.”
~ Anonymous
"Who are my mother and my
brothers?" he asked.
Then he looked at those seated in a
circle around him and said, "Here
are my mother and my brothers!
Whoever does God's will is my
brother and sister and mother."
~ Mark 3:31-35 (TNIV)

“This will be a sign to you:
You will find a baby wrapped
in cloths and lying in a
manger.“
~ The Angels to the Shepherds,
Luke 2:12 (TNIV)
“The man who finds a wife
finds a treasure and receives
favour from the LORD.”
~ Proverbs 18:22 (NLT)
“Children are a gift from the
LORD; they are a reward from
him. Children born to a young
man are like sharp arrows in a
warrior’s hands. How happy
is the man whose quiver is full
of them!”
~ Psalm 127:3-5 (NLT)
Then Jesus' mother and brothers
arrived. Standing outside, they
sent someone in to call him. A
crowd was sitting around him,
and they told him, "Your mother
and brothers are outside looking
for you.“

"Who are my mother and my
brothers?" he asked.
Then he looked at those seated in a
circle around him and said, "Here

Whoever does God's will is my

~ Mark 3:31-35 (TNIV)
"Truly I tell you," Jesus said to
them, "no one who has left home
or wife or brothers or sisters or
parents or children for the sake
of the kingdom of God will fail to
receive many times as much in
this age, and in the age to come
eternal life."
~ Luke 18:29-30 (TNIV)
During those days another large crowd
gathered. Since they had nothing to eat,
Jesus called his disciples to him and
said, "I have compassion for these
people; they have already been with me
three days and have nothing to eat. If I
send them home hungry, they will
collapse on the way, because some of
them have come a long distance."
~ Mark 8:1-3 (TNIV)
“So in everything, do to others
what you would have them do
to you, for this sums up the
Law and the Prophets.”
~ Matthew 7:12 (TNIV)
“You must each make up your
own mind as to how much you
should give. Don’t give
reluctantly or in response to
pressure. For God loves the
person who gives cheerfully.”
~ 2 Corinthians 9:7
“…let us throw off everything
that hinders…”
~ Hebrews 12:1 (TNIV)
“Stay away from the love of
money; be satisfied with what
you have.”
~ Hebrews 13:5 (NLT)
