Pink Dolphins live?
What environment do
Pink Dolphins live in?
• Dolphins in Hong
Kong usually live
everywhere. But there
is one main place in
Hong Kong called
Lantau Island.
• Pink Dolphins live in
cool waters and they
are almost always
found near coastlines,
and usually near a
major river mouth.
Why do they die?
Pink Dolphins die in Hong Kong because…
• We kill them for food
• We are polluting the water
• We kill their fish for food
• Construction of the Chek Lap Kok Airport
• Sewage which includes toxic waste,
bacteria,etc.
How many get killed a
year?
About 10- 20 are at risk
of dying each year.
How many are left?
There are 120 pink
dolphins left in Hong
Kong.
What do they eat?
• Crustaceans
• Catfish
• Small fresh water fish
Are we polluting the water?
• Contaminated mud from reclamation is
dumped in the seabed.
• Lots of raw sewage (screened, not treated) is
dumped.
• Organ chlorines which is a pesticide is also
found in their habitat.
How can we save them?
• Less illegal fishing
• Less dumping of pollution in their habitat
