Transcript Bona Sforza - WOW Project

Made by Daniel Słomka I A
She came from the wealthy Italian family of
the Dukes of Milan - Sforza. She was the
daughter Giana Galeazza Sforza and Isabella of
Aragon. In his childhood, Bona got a good
education. Her teacher was Crisostomo
Colonna, a member of the Academy of Pont.
Bona met by the works Virgil, Cicero and the
Fathers of the Church, she learned to speak in
a scholarly way, also possessed a knowledge
of history, law, administration, and theology.
She was thrifty, economical, and at the same
time, able to influence people.
Almost from the beginning of his stay in
Poland Queen Bona tried to gain a strong
political position. She began to create their
own party and also benefited from the impact
that had on the king.
She was able to be obtained from Pope Leo X
the right to decide of the cast of fifteen of
Church of very high importance (eg in Kraków,
Gniezno, Poznan, Wloclawek and Frombork).
Bona came out of the belief that one of the most
important things needed for the effective
realisations of politicans plans and strengthening
of royal power is access to high finance. So set a
goal to collect the greatest wealth, which would
give Jagiellons financial independence. The 1524
Bona had already „dobra sieluckie” and a very
large forest belt around the Narew, and the next
target was the Podlasie. Later bought up a lot of
possessions in Lithuania in the years 1536-1546
In 1527, as a result of a fall from his horse, Queen
prematurely gave birth to her second son, Albert,
who died at birth. After this event, the queen
could not have more children. Bona to continue
the Jagiellonian dynasty on the Polish throne,
decided to force the nobles and magnates of the
coronation of the only son of Zygmunt Augustus.
First, the long-systems and multiple hand
positions and, Lithuanian nobility gave him the
throne (c. 1527-1528). Then in 1530 Zygmunt II
Augustus crowned Polish king.
In foreign policy, was an opponent of the
Habsburgs and advocate an alliance with France.
In Hungary, during the wars that took place after
the Battle of Mohács (1526), supported - against
the Habsburgs - John Zapolya, for whom she gave
her oldest daughter Isabella. Bona also sought to
maintain good relations with the Ottoman Porte
Bona was also for connecting Silesia to the Crown
in exchange for his hereditary principality Bari
and Rossano, but Sigismund did not support this
idea.
In the thirties, she could also be carried out in
Lithuania and agricultural tax reform in 1544
Sigismund II Augustus became an independent
authority in Lithuania, and therefore there is
moved. This was the cause of a significant
weakening of the power of the queen. This
conflict of interest, and następniezwiązek
Sigismund Augustus and Barbara Radziwill, led
eventually to move bills along with her daughters
on Mazowszea then to go from Polish to Bari, as it
did in 1556.
