About us
Formex - The world’s largest meeting place
for Nordic interior design
Formex started in1960 and is organized twice a year,
once in January and once in August. Formex has
about 850 exhibitors at each exhibition and features
products within interior design, gifts, design, children’s
products, fashion, accessories, and much, much more.
It’s a place where national and international buyers,
agents, wholesalers, importers, designers, producers
and media from the entire interior design and gift industry come together. Formex attracts around 23.000
visitors and 800 media representatives each time it
takes place. In addition to business opportunities,
networking opportunities and opportunities to see innovations, the exhibition showcases trends, inspiration
and know-how in the form of displays and talks.
Formex is investing in the young by making way for
the Young Designers area.
Nova Award
We have been awarding the Nova Nordic Designer of
the Year award since 2011. Five up and coming Nordic

Formex Formidable
The Formex Formidable award was created ten years
ago and it then became two awards two years ago,
the Jury’s Choice and the People’s Choice.
It starts with an expert jury consisting of Stefan Nilsson,
Head of the Jury Trend Expert, Dan Gordan, Editor
for Sköna Hem, Kerstin Wickman, Professor of Arts
and Crafts and Monica Förster, Designer, nominate
around 20 products at this fall’s fair and then choose
a winner. In parallel, we are opening the door for
everyone to vote for the People’s Choice on Formex’s
web site during the fall until the end of the year.
The winners of the People’s Choice and the Jury’s
Choice will be presented at Formex’s spring fair.

What to find
Nordic Area – Design, Craft & Young Design
At Formex you will find unique Scandinavian products,
which are often showcased in special exhibitions at
the fair, allowing international visitors to find things that
they will not come across at any other international
trade fair. This is what makes Formex a unique and
a must-see event.
If you have an interest in young talent, our Young
Designers area is the place to be. Here, our design
stars of tomorrow show their work and their fresh and
innovative ideas; needless to say that everything in
sight can be ordered. Suppliers, artisans and young
unestablished designers who focus on Nordic design
in limited quantities.
Formex has always featured
companies representing top
design. We have made it easier
for everyone to find these
companies by creating the
following sectors:
Living Interior/Textile
Interior and lifestyle concepts.
Fashion/Accessories/Body & Bath
Clothing, jewelery, bags, scarves, clogs,
boots, soaps, cremes & fragrance.
Kids & Toys
Design products for children and children’s clothing.
Mixed interior/Floral & Garden
– it is clear to see from the expansion in this area
that there is a crossover between indoor and
outdoor trends/design/products etc.
Taste
– just as before there is a distinct need for coffee,
tea, spices and chocolate at Formex.
Gifts & Packaging
– the most obvious product area at Formex is
paper and gift packaging, needed by all stores.
Magazines & Trend agencies
– providing inspiration and support for our visitors
in their efforts to accurately determine future trends
is an important part of Formex.
Inspiration and knowledge
At Formex we offer several inspiration and trend
exhibitions. In our large area for seminars, dining
and displays we put together a fantastic backdrop
where food, drink and new products blend together
to provide an exciting overall experience. At each
event we offer seminars covering the various trends
for the season. We also take an in-depth look at
topics that support our visitors in becoming better
purchasers and store owners.
