Information om PRAO i åk 8

Under vecka 10 och 11 på vårterminen 2015 kommer eleverna i åk.8 ha praktik på arbetsplatser, så kallad Prao. De skall få inblick i arbetslivet och se hur det fungerar på olika arbetsplatser. Eleverna kommer med mitt stöd och min hjälp få söka sina praoplatser själva. Av erfarenhet vet vi att eleverna får betydligt mer ut av sin Prao om de själva hittar sina praoplatser och kan föra en dialog med sina arbetsgivare angående egna intressen. Att våga ta kontakt med främmande vuxna personer är ett stort plus, även senare i livet. Prata gärna redan nu med ditt barn om vilken typ av arbete han/hon är intresserad av och hjälp honom/henne att komma igång med sökandet omgående. I skolan försöker jag att förbereda eleverna väl inför Praon. Vi använder oss av Svenskt- Näringslivs arbetsmaterial som de erbjuder gratis och vi besöker också Arbetsförmedlingens hemsida ett antal gånger, där eleverna bland annat gör ett eget intresse test och de orienterar sig också bland olika yrken där. Inför Praoperioden kommer eleverna att få ett antal skoluppgifter, som de sedan skall arbeta med när de kommer tillbaka till skolan. På praoplatserna kommer eleverna att ha tillgång till en handledare som hjälper dem i sitt arbete. Elevernas arbete på praoplatsen måste vara tryggt för eleven. Den får inte vara mer omfattande än vad eleven klarar av. Inga sena arbetstimmar, inte för långa arbetsdagar, ca. 6 timmar per dag är bra. Det får inte förekomma tunga lyft och ingen hantering av pengar. Det här är exempel på sådant som är olämpligt för eleven. I övrigt finns inga specifika krav på vilken praoplats eleven kan ha. Eleverna kommer att få träffa mig och förbereda sig fram till praoperioden. Det är viktigt att du som målsman godkänner elevens arbetsgivare och de arbetsuppgifter som förekommer. Du kommer att få underteckna ett informationsformulär innan eleven får komma ut på arbetsmarknaden. Hör gärna av dig om du undrar över något inför Praoperioden. During weeks 10 and 11 in the spring term 2015, students in year 8 have work placements, known as PRAO. They will gain insight into the world of work and see how it works in different workplaces. Students will, with my support and help, find their work experience places themselves. We know from experience that students get much more out of their PRAO if they find their work experience places and can have a dialogue with their employers about their own interests. Daring to make contact with unknown adults is a big plus, even later in life. Please talk now with your child about what type of work he/she is interested in and help him/her to start the search immediately. In school, I try to prepare students well for PRAO. We use the Swedish - Enterprise work material that they offer free and we will also visit the Employment Service's website a number of times, where students take a personal interest test and they familiarize themselves with different occupations. Before the PRAO period, students will receive a number of assignments which they must work with when they come back to school. At the work experience place, students will have access to a tutor who will help them in their work. Student’s work at a PRAO place must be safe for the student. It must not be more extensive than what the student can cope with. No late work or long hours; approximately 6 hours a day is good. There should be no heavy lifting and no money management. These are examples of things that are inappropriate for the student. Otherwise there are no specific requirements as to what PRAO places student may have. Students will meet me and prepare for the work experience period. It is important that you as a parent or guardian approve the student's employer and the duties involved.
