THEME Forty Steps
located in Jungang-dong中央洞/ Donggwang-dong東光洞, Junggu中區
Around 1407, when Busan port was opened to Japan, the current Choryang
草梁 area was designated as a Japanese residential . When the Korean War
broke in 1950, many refugees were driven into Busan and most settled
temporarily in the hilly section of Donggwang-dong. Forty Steps leading
from the lower street to the higher-up residential areas. It is here that
refugees would pass to try and find work and food to survive and here they
ended up gathering to try to find any information about missing family
members. A black market about dollars and relief supplies were also in this
Forty Steps. Forty Steps monument says the lyric of "Gyeongsangdo
Agassi" and the history of Forty Steps.
The site chosen at the workshop include streets and areas around Forty
Steps. Rehabilitation scheme on Forty Steps as a significant modern
historic place will be investigated with the method for preserving and
rehabilitating the historic values and relics by redesign of building, street
and landscape around
Pusan National Univ.

ASSIGNMENT
[Final Presentation Panel]
The size of the presentation panel is 600㎜×900㎜ (one panel per team). In
principal, texts on the panel shall be written in English. The team number
should be in the upper right-hand corner of the panel. Sketches with various
kinds of pens and inks as well as computer generated images are highly
recommended in the presentation. The presentation method will be not
limited but open to your own unique and creative way. Foam boards and
drawing sheets for the presentation panel will be available at the workshop.
[Model Presentation]
The basic materials for model will be available. You can bring your own
materials for model. The size of the model is 600㎜×450㎜(scale=1/400).
