The Book of Ecclesiastes
Chapter 3
tells us:
JANUARY 18, 2015
THE SECOND SUNDAY IN
ORDINARY TIME
First Reading:
1 Samuel 3:3-19
This powerful story describes Samuel,
who at the me was the servant of
the high priest. The Lord called out to
Samuel, who twice thought Eli had
called him. They gradually realized
that it was the Lord who called for
him. So the third me Samuel answered and the Lord remained with
Samuel as he grew.
Second Reading:
1 Corinthians 6:13-20
Paul explains to the Corinthians that
their body is a temple of the Holy
Spirit. He tells them to avoid lewd
conduct, and glorify God by keeping
their bodies pure.
Gospel:
John 1:35-42
John told two of his disciples that
Jesus is the Lamb of God. They
turned and followed Him,
immediately curious and a racted
to Him. Andrew told his brother
Simon about Jesus. Simon also
came to meet Jesus, who renamed
him Cephas, or Peter
“There is an appointed time for
every thing and a time for every
affair under the heavens”.

Finding God in Loss
How do we relate to God when we
suffer a loss of someone or
something to us? A loss we may
have prayed to avoid? In painful
times of loss, God promises to be
there for us. But can we be with
Him? Can these times of losses
become a time of personal and
spiritual growth? We will explore
how to be with these situations
through prayer, music, and
sharing.

Second Grade First Reconcilia on
The second graders were very excited to receive their first Reconcilia on on Saturday, January 10,
2015. As a way to get ready for this special day, the students made a “Treasures of Reconcilia on”
treasure chest filled with gems. The students wrote various reasons why Reconcilia on is important
on each gem. Some examples are that Reconcilia on takes away their sins, helps them to be good,
increases their treasures in heaven, and makes their soul more beau ful. The students had
fun cu ng out the gems and gluing on a few sparkly ones! Everyone at Saint Peter School is very
proud of the second graders for all of their hard work and dedica on as they prepare to receive
this sacrament!
