Automotive GST Seminar
The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) succesfully conducted
"Automotive Info Talk" on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in
collaboration with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department
on 25 March and 24 April 2014.
Moving forward MAI plan to conduct one more session in
Kuching, Sarawak on 26 May 2014. Tentatively another two
sessions will be held in the north and south of Peninsular
Malaysia.
MAI as an agency of the MITI and the focus point for the Malaysian automotive industry, will
continue to engage with stakeholders to update them on happenings in the industry.
Automotive Info Talk will allay the concerns and fears on the drawbacks, or myths, if some like to
term it, on GST. It would also provide a clear understanding of GST, and assist government in the
smooth implementation of the GST next year.
The GST will be a logical step and significant improvement towards a comprehensive indirect tax
reform in the country. It will pave the way for modernisation of tax administration, making it simpler
and more transparent; and significant enhancement in voluntary compliance.
-Malaysia Automotive Institute-

“DRIVING Transformation, POWERING Growth”
Although the introduction of a GST regime would initially impact businesses and individuals across
the board, a focused and well-driven implementation should benefit the country as a whole in the
long run.
