Extension and renewal of the Dr. Horacio
E. Oduber Hospital, in Aruba
OHL achieves a new
hospital project in
America for 71.5
million euros
In terms of budget, this is Aruba’s largest hospital
project to date. It has been promoted by the Aruban
government, its international investment bank AIB
Bank and the semi-public development agency
Stichting Onroerend Goes Aruba (SOGA). The aim of
the project is to improve the health care offered to
Aruba’s citizens and visitors, turning HOH into a topnotch hospital.
The contract will be executed in two stages over four
years. The first stage will involve the hospital extension,
with a total constructed surface area of 15,447 square
meters in the new buildings, and during the second stage
the hospital’s current centers will be renovated.
This extension will involve the construction of a new
six-floor polyclinic with 96 rooms for patient
hospitalization, another three-floor building for doctor’s
appointments and outpatient services and a central
energy plant and warehouse building to extend existing
electrical and mechanical infrastructures.
Stage two will begin once the new buildings are in
service. This will include a two-stage renewal of the
current six-floor polyclinic, with 60 rooms and areas
covering neumology, cardiology, neurological care,
laboratories, pharmacy and pre and after surgery care.
Furthermore, the common areas will be renovated, such
as the main hall and dining room, and the top floor will be
used as administrative offices and hospital services.
With head office in Miami, Florida, OHL Arellano is an OHL
Group subsidiary specializing in the construction and
renewal of hospitals and health facilities and higher

Australia
The works include the construction of a
two-lane road, 13.7 km long, and 6 km

to split the existing road surface in order
to improve traffic.
The project’s most relevant activities
include the execution of four bridges
and the adjustment of four other existing
ones, structure demolition, the execution
of huge volumes of earth movement and
the provision of permanent (concrete) and
flexible (asphalt) paving along the route.
Construction works will begin in mid 2014,
over a two-year execution period.
The project will be jointly financed by New
South Wales and the Australian state, as
part of a huge investment plan started up
by the Australian authorities to improve
traffic capacity and road safety along the
Pacific Highway. It is one of the country’s
most important highway, as it links Sidney,
in New South Wales, to Brisbane, in

Any actions and initiatives that encourage
social and economic development are carried
out through areas and measures that enable
discussion and thought -both on relevant
matters related to the economy and society
and any linked to innovation, sustainable

These initiatives include the Learn to be an

the “Empieza por Educar” (ExE) [“Begin by

Finally, as regards the promotion of sports

supporting sports activities amongst the
Group employees, the most outstanding
activity in 2013 was the signing of an

VIII Pro-Equality Soccer
Tournament
Once again this year, the Palomeras sports hall in Madrid has hosted the
VIII edition of OHL Group’s Pro-Equality Soccer Tournament, arranged by OHL
Volunteers together with the Adecco Foundation. The tournament was held last 31
May with participating employees from the Group’s various divisions.
The tournament and related activities, such as the raffle for charity or kids activities,
were part of the sports and social day activities carried out in favour of social and
employment integration of young Special Olympics participants suffering various
forms of intellectual disability.
For these young people, soccer is an excellent form of social integration that
encourages the development of their teamwork skills, inter-relations, effort and
personal sacrifice.
The raffle collected approximately 1,200 euros which, along with contributions from
OHL and the Adecco Foundation, have been donated to Special Olympics in order
to help the organization finance the expenses of sports competitions in which their
members participate.
