NEWSLETTER – No.15 – 26th August 2014
Dear Parents,
BOOK WEEK AT O.L.A.
During Book Week we certainly had many opportunities to connect to reading. It was a
fantastic time for all of us. Eating time became a story time as we listened to a story
during lunch time.
Everyone enjoyed coming to the Library in our PJ’s and sharing a book with our Mums
and Dads and younger brothers and sisters. It was a very snuggly and cosy time to
celebrate with our families. Not one teddy was left in the Library!
It was wonderful to see so many families share time in the Library together.
The buzz of Book Week was most certainly the wild array of book characters that
emerged from books and joined us in our hall for our first
ever Fashion Parade of Book Characters. It was such a
colourful and exciting event, with some of our old favourites
such as Tweedle De and Tweedle Dum, as well as many
Super Heros to protect us during our day.
Thank you to everyone who helped create such wonderful
book characters.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Ester Omarsdottir Literacy Leader

HOLY SPIRIT
Come, Holy Spirit
Animate our growth in justice.
Mend our brokenness so that we may be your peace.
Strengthen us with your gifts.
Come now, Blessed Spirit
Come, Holy, Holy;
Come, Holy Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit,
Come fill our hearts with your love.
Surrounds us with the warmth of your presence.
Come, Holy, Holy;
Come, Holy Spirit.
Heal us and draw us close to our God.
Lead us across the great unknown,
The vast desert of uncertainty.
Come, Holy, Holy;
Come, Holy Spirit.
Come, Holy Spirit,
Move in us and through us.
Bind up our wounds, and draw us together into one body
Keep ever burning in us the
light of Christ.

LUNCH CLUB CHATTER
Drama Club
Senior School
Senior school drama club has now finally come to a close for
2014. On Monday at assembly we had Bronwyn and Cath from
the Catholic Education Office come to present OLA with our
award for the Student Wellbeing Drama Festival.
As mentioned earlier this term, OLA achieved fantastic results!
We came second place in the whole of Melbourne! The
certificate and plaque can be seen on display in the office.
Middle School
After being patient for two whole terms, the grade 3 and 4 students
now have their chance to perform and participate in drama club. So
far we have played some games and held auditions. The play will
be performed during the fete in November; we are very excited, we
will keep you posted throughout term 3 and 4.

GOODBYE AND FAREWELL
(From a letter sent to OLA)
It’s time to say “Good Bye”! For nearly 6 years I have had the
pleasure to guide you all, children and parents, across busy
Centre Dandenong Road. Joe, (my husband) and I will be
moving to a retirement village at The Basin, so I will be retiring at
the end of the month.
It was a privilege to get to know you and work with you. I will truly miss
you all.
