PRODUCT INFORMATION
REMAFIX S
General Properties
Preparation
REMAFIX S is an elastic, solvent free, cold hardening
soft rubber repair mastic based on a modified Polybutadiene rubber (BR).
The REMAFIX S repair system consists of the primer
REMAFIX PR 100 and the two-component mastic consisting of REMAFIX S and REMAFIX S H3 Hardener.
REMAFIX S, applied in conjunction with the primer
REMAFIX PR 100, gives an excellent adhesion to various substrates such as steel, soft and hard rubber linings, graphite and acid resistant ceramics.
Mixing Ratio
REMAFIX S and REMAFIX S H3 Hardener are to be
mixed properly before application.
The excellent properties of REMAFIX S are its good
chemical resistance against non-oxidising mineral acids, bases, aqueous phases and especially against
media containing a high amount of solids. REMAFIX S
can be used in a temperature range from - 40 °C to +
90 °C.
Fields of Application
REMAFIX S has been developed for the repair of rubber lined vessels, pipes, rollers and drums, chutes, and
channels and further for the transition areas of hard
and soft rubber lining on flange facings.
Application Examples
a) Repairs of Rubber lined drums, rollers, support rollers, chutes, and channels
b) Repairs to wear resistant rubber linings of polymers
based on natural, Styrene butadiene and Nitrile rubber
as well as on Polyurea systems
c) Filling of groves and impact areas of rubber lining,
such as in hoppers and coal bunkers.
d) Repairs on soft rubber linings on a hard rubber under-layer, in the soft rubber level.
e) Repairs on flange lip areas, which are subsequently
covered by flange gaskets. (Maximum half the length of
the bevel)
f) Repairs of special rubber linings based on Bromobutyl, Chloroprene and Chlorosulfonated polyethylene
polymers.
Product Description

Surface Preparation
The surface to be repaired with REMAFIX S must be
free from oil, grease and chemicals. The surfaces must
be ground with a 24 grit grinding disc, if necessary
down to the metal.

Pot life, contact bonding times as well as dwell times are naturally
always dependent upon climate and environmental conditions, such
as ambient temperature, air humidity, ventilation etc. Consequently,
the indicated time periods should be regarded as a general guideline
only; the ideal time periods must be determined on site while taking
the respective climatic conditions into account.
Application
a) Application of the primer
Apply one thin coat of the REMAFIX PR 100 to thoroughly cover the complete repair area. The applied
primer should be allowed to dry for at least 2 hours at
+ 23 °C ± 2 °C.
b) Repair with REMAFIX S
Shortly before use, mix components A and B of the
REMAFIX S, avoiding trapping air as far as possible,
until a paste is produced which can be applied with a
trowel. Apply the mastic with a trowel on to the prepared repair area.

Metal surfaces and joint areas should be covered thinly
with the mastic, before these areas are filled to the
required thickness, preventing any blisters or air being
trapped. When applying the mastic, assure that no
cavities remain.

Description
Hardening
The product hardens in approximately 24 hours at + 23
°C ± 2 °C. This period can be shortened by warming
the area at approximately + 60 °C with either warm air
or radiators. Where necessary the repair area could be
surface ground after hardening.
Some products are available in larger trading units on
request.
Spark Test
The spark test (Holiday Test) is carried out according to
the EN 14879-4. An earthed high-voltage spark tester
Elmed-Isotest II RT or alternatively the Wegener AC
Spark Tester WEG 20/22 must be used.
The test voltage has to be set as follows:
REMAFIX S
Storage
The materials must be stored in a cool and dry place.
At a storage temperature of ≤ 20 °C the minimum shelf
life is as follows:
REMAFIX PR 100
REMAFIX S
REMAFIX S H3 Hardener
5 KV/mm
1 year
6 months
1 year
If the storage time is exceeded, the materials must be
tested before use. Higher storage and transport
temperatures will reduce the shelf life. The containers
must be kept tightly closed. Liquid products must be
stored frost-proof. The German Standard DIN 7716 has
to be observed.
Safety Measures
The material safety data sheets of the individual
components as well as the legal requirements for
handling hazardous materials must be observed.
