VIUC (Andhra Pradesh) at a Glance
 VIUC is implementing in 5 districts of AP
 Visakhapatnam, Krishna, Guntur, Kurnool and Chittoor
( Visakhapatnam and Chittoor are covering from 2012-13 onwards) and other
3 districts are from 2014-15 onwards.
 Out lay approved for 2014-15 is Rs.8.75 Crores against which the funds
released as on 28-02-2015 are Rs.4.375 Crores and the Expenditure is Rs.3.58
crores. However, the identification for the entire allocation is completed.
Physical grounding is under progress
 Out lay proposed for 2015-16 is Rs.8.95 Crores
 No of farmers groups proposed in 2015-16 are 46 Nos.
 Proposed to implement urban farming units in Vijayawada and
Visakhapatnam

challenges
•Glut in tomato crop production and needs
support under price stabilisation fund.
•Support for establishing processing units and
varieties suitable for processing
•Potato is grown in tribal areas of paderu
which is high altitude zone which needs to be
further strengthened.
•Onion is grown in kurnool and storage
facilities can be improved.
•Low yields in early kharif onion growing areas
of north coastal ap which needs varietal
replacement.
