required to follow the Core 4 curriculum for at least the first
two years.

Students must earn 24 credits
AND

Students must pass 3 end-ofcourse (EOC) tests in the
following categories:

◦ Algebra I or Geometry
◦ Biology or American History

Rank in class is determined at the completion of
senior year. Using criteria below the senior with
most quality points will be number one in class.
 Quality points earned in grades 9-12
 Calculated using maximum of 28 credits
 Maximum of 16 credits may be weighted

Honor Graduate is determined by the overall
weighted GPA which must be a 3.5 or higher.








Should a senior fail a first semester class required
for graduation, the alternatives are:
attempt to pass the course through Independent Study or on-line provider
(costs approximately $150-$200 per .5 credit)
possibly reschedule class for second semester 2014 (not all courses are
available; fees may apply)
repeat course in summer school and graduate at end of summer school (will
not be allowed to participate in 2014 graduation ceremony)
repeat course next school year and graduate in May 2015

Louisiana’s Taylor Opportunity Program for Students
(TOPS) is a comprehensive program of state
scholarships and one of the most innovative and
progressive student assistance programs in the
nation. TOPS pays the amount equal to base tuition
at any Louisiana public college or university. The
courses and requirements are listed in the TOPS
Program rules, which can be viewed at:

ACT or SAT
The ACT is an more of an achievement test,
measuring what a student has learned in
school.
The SAT is more of an aptitude test, testing
reasoning and verbal abilities.
The ACT has up to 5 components: English,
Mathematics, Reading, Science, and an
optional Writing Test.
The SAT has 3 components: Critical
Reasoning, Mathematics, Writing.




(fee waivers are available to 11th or 12th on
free/reduced lunch see Ms. Canas)

Each senior is granted two excused absences
for college visits.
Letter from the university on their school
letterhead including your name and the dates
you visited. Bring to student services upon
returning to school.
College visits count as field trips.

◦ Follow up in 2-3 weeks

Go to student services for a transcript
request form.
Fill out the transcript request form and pay
the appropriate fee.
$1.00 for the first copy and .25 for each
additional copy. Add .50 for each mailed
copy.
All DE courses require an original transcript
from the college where you earned the
credit.









All high school student-athletes wishing to compete in
college must register with an Eligibility Center.
NCAA for Division I and II schools such as LSU, SLU, ULM, ULL,
ect.
Register online with the NCAA Clearinghouse at
www.eligibilitycenter.org
You must arrange for ACT/SAT to send your scores directly to
the Clearinghouse. NCAA Clearinghouse code is 9999.
Complete a transcript request form in Student services to
have your transcript mailed to the NCAA Clearinghouse.
NAIA Louisiana Colleges include Dillard, LSA-Alexandria &
Shreveport, Loyola, Southern-New Orleans, and Xavier
Register online with the NAIA Clearinghouse at PlayNAIA.org.
