National Junior Honor Society

“The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.

Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in official Honor Society activities. NHS and NJHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. territories, and Canada. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.” http://www.njhs.us/about-us.aspx

What are some things we do?

 A college tour field trip (NC State) in the Spring.

 Planning and serving at the Valentine’s Day Dance (Friday, 2/20/15) and The May Ball (Friday, 5/1/15)  Service projects: a.

Serving concessions on Monday, January 5 th b.

c.

Serving at The Bassett Center in April/May Various other projects as needed around our school

What will be expected of me?

  To maintain good grades (85% or higher average) at all times. All progress reports and report cards must be showed to Mrs. Dunlop and grades will be documented.

To maintain a positive behavior record. Referrals, suspensions, criminal activity or other negative behavior may result in dismissal from the organization.    To follow all NJHS laws and bylaws. To attend and support all service projects and events.

To attend all meetings and punctually be picked up: -If you cannot attend a meeting you must notify Mrs. Dunlop personally. Three (3) unexcused meetings and you will lose your privileges of NJHS.

-You must be picked up punctually (within 15 minutes from the meeting/event finish time). If not picked up within 15 minutes two times, you will lose the privileges of attending and membership.
