Exercise – map of Dartmoor
What to do:
Try and create a map on screen that
resembles your exercise map.
1.
Change your basemap, to display the
Land Cover map from 2000.
2.
Change the opacity of the land cover
data to make it more visible.
3. Display some National Nature
Reserves on your map by opening a
file: Open > Annotations from file >
sxnnrshp_selection.zip. © Natural

Tips:
• Your map is of Dartmoor
(Devon).
• Check out the map slider
above the map.
• Try Annotation tools to add
labels, shapes and change
colours.
• Save > My Maps, saves your
map within Digimap.
Environment Roam basemaps
4. Try and change the colour of the
Nature Reserve (see Annotation
Tools).
5. Save your map within Digimap,
naming it Dartmoor.
6. Make a PDF A4 landscape print file of
your map.
