In the history of Great
Britain there are a lot of
famous names. The name
of William Shakespeare
is one of them.
William Shakespeare, the great English poet and dramatist, was born in
1564 in the town of Stratford-on-Avon. There were no theatres in England
then. Groups of actors travelled from town to town showing performances
in the street. Sometimes actors came to Stratford-on-Avon. The boy went
to see all their shows and liked them very much. He wanted to became an
actor.
Sometimes he wrote
little plays and staged
them with his friends.
When he was twenty
one. William went to
London. There he
joined a group of
actors. At first he only
helped actors and then
began writing plays for
them. Soon
Shakespeare's plays
were staged more and
more and became
famous.
The theatre where he worked was called "The Globe", it
became the first professional theatre.
Shakespeare wrote 37
plays: 10 tragedies
(such as Hamlet, King
Lear, Othello, Romeo
and Juliet,Macbeth),
17 comedies (such as
As You Like It, Twelfth
Night, Much Ado
About Nothing), 10
historical plays (such
as Henry 4, Richard 3).
He also left 7 books of
poems and sonnets.
Shakespeare showed the real life and attitudes between
people. Love and death, friendship and treason, devotion
and lie are the main ideas of his plays. Shakespeare's
works will always be interesting for all people.
THE INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
• Before death, William Shakespeare wrote the whole treatise of
damnations to the one who will try to rebury its grave: "A
damnation to the person who will touch these stones, I will damn
the one who will move my bones".
• One of plays of the dramatist is lost forever. The play "Kardenio"
which is attributed to the dramatist, and which went at his life,
was completely lost.
• The great dramatist experienced on himself violation of
copyright. In 1609, many of its sonnets were published without
its permission.
• Shakespeare invented the word "assassination" that means
"murder".
• William married the woman who was almost twice more senior
than him. Anna Hatauey was 26 years old when she married 18year-old William.
• Shakespeare and his wife had eight children
