this epistle is read among you,
see that it is read also in the
church of the Laodiceans, and
that you likewise read the epistle
from Laodicea.

 A run away slave of Philemon,
who was sent back to Philemon
by Paul as a brother in Christ –
(Phile 1:11-21)

Those Paul Sends to
Colosse (vv. 7-9)
 With Onesimus,  His Relationship (vs. 9) - a
faithful and beloved brother, -
 His Mission – Used as a
messenger by Paul – who with
Tychicus would make known to the
Colossians all things which were
happening in Rome - where Paul was
imprisoned.

Those Who Send Greetings (vv. 10-14)
 Aristarchus (v. 10a) –
 A "fellow prisoner" A Macedonian of
Thessalonica, - (Acts 19:29; 27:2)
 A fellow traveler of Paul – (Ac 20:4)
 Nearly lost his life in the riot in
Ephesus along with Gaius, a fellow
Macedonian - (Acts 19:29)
 Sailed with Paul to Rome – (Ac 27:2)

Those Who Send Greetings (vv. 10-14)
 Mark (v. 10b) – Barnabas’ cousin
 The church in Jerusalem met in his
mother's house – (Ac 12:12)
 Started with Paul and Barnabas on
their first journey, but turned back –
(Ac 13:1-13)
 Was a source of contention between
Paul and Barnabas – (Ac 15:36-41)  Eventually proved "profitable" to Paul
for service – (2 Ti 4:11)

Those Who Send Greetings (vv. 10-14)
 Jesus Called Justus - (v. 11)
 Little is known of this man, except
that he was also a Jew ("of the
circumcision") - [Jesus was his Jewish
name – Justus was his Hellenistic name.]
 He was also a "fellow worker for the
kingdom“
 Along with Tychicus, Onesimus,
Aristarchus & Mark – He was a
comfort to Paul.

Those Who Send Greetings (vv. 10-14)
 Epaphras, - A faithful minister who
had taught them – (Co 1:7-8)
 He cared deeply for them and those in
Laodicea and Hierapolis
 A "fellow prisoner" (Phile 23)
 He prayed "constantly" ("always") "fervently" ("laboring fervently") "personally" ("for you") - "with a goal
in mind" ("that you may stand perfect
and complete...“)

Those Who Send Greetings (vv. 10-14)
 Luke, The "Beloved Physician” – (14)
 A fellow traveler with Paul on a
number of his journeys – (Ac 16:10; 20:5;
27;1) [note the personal pronoun "we“]
 He was used by the Holy Spirit to
write both the book of Luke and the
book of Acts
 He was faithful to Paul to the end – (2
Ti 4:11 – “Only Luke is with me.”)

 At the time Colossians and Philemon
was written, Demas was a "fellow
laborer“ - (Phile 1:24)
 But not long after, Demas forsook
Paul – “having loved this present world,
and has departed for Thessalonica.” – (2
Timothy 4:10)
 We Must Continue in the faith – (Rev

warning from our Lord some 30
years later in the book of
Revelation. – (Rev 3:15-21)

/ “the church in their house” ASV)
 Churches meeting in homes
was a common practice in the
New Testament - (Rom. 16:5; 1
Cor. 16:19; Phile. 2).

read the epistle from
Laodicea.

in the Worship of the early

 The brethren at Colosse charged
with providing the epistle to the
Laodiceans –
 Epistle from the Laodiceans
 Some suggest that the book of
Ephesians is meant / others
suggest that it was an epistle

elsewhere by Paul as “our
fellow soldier” - (Phile 1:2)
 Take Heed – Give constant
watch over – (1 Cor 10:12)
 The Ministry – apparently was
similar to that of Timothy – (1
Tim 4:12-16; 2 Tim 5:5)
 Fulfill It – Perform it to its
fullest – complete it.
