What is this ?
BIG BEN
• The name Big Ben actually refers not to the
clock –tower itself, but to the Great Bell housed
within the clock tower.
This bell weighs 13 tonnes, equivalent to 5 adult
elephants.
What everybody goes to visit is not the Big Ben,
that of course, it is there but people cannot see;
What people really see is the Houses of Parliament
Benjamin Hall (1802-1867)
He became MP in 1832 and
oversaw the rebuilding of the
Houses of Parliament, including
the installation of the 13.8-tonne
hour bell, “Big Ben”, in the clock
tower.
He was a tall man and many
attribute its name to him, but this is
questionable

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of
its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and
the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of
brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering
with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of
freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not
be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream …
