Transcript Daisy the Rainmaker



It’s early morning. Daisy wakes up, goes to
the window and opens it.
“Oh, no! It’s sunny again!” she frowns. She
looks at her raincoat and boots – the birthday
presents from her parents.

But there is not a cloud in the sky. Then, she
has an idea! She runs to the backyard and
turns on the sprinkler. Whoooooosh!

The water comes out.

Now Daisy is a happy rainmaker.

Unit 2
I babysit Sue, my three-year-old sister. I read
a picture book to her, and she tears the
pages off.
I give her a ball, and she hits a flower vase
with it. I give her some milk, and she spills it
all over.



Now, she is drawing pictures on the wall. Oh,
my! Mom is home.
What will she say?
You know what? She hugs me and says “Good
job!”

Unit 4
Each member of Laurie’s family likes different
things. Her dad goes fishing every Friday
night.
Her mom loves to take pictures of people and
animals.



Her brother enjoys sports, and he is a great
pitcher. Her little sister plays the flute after
school.
What about Laurie?
She collects bugs like grasshoppers and
dragonflies. Her family members don’t like
them. But the bugs love her family.

Dear Sean,
It’s cold and snowy here in Alaska. I miss you,
our tree house and the warm sunny weather
in Los Angeles.
You can enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables
there. But I eat lots of fish here.


And I don’t like it.
Also, I can’t rollerblade to school. So I ride a
big sled there.

Do you have a new swing for the tree house?

Please mail me some pictures of you on it.
 Yours,
 Claire

Unit 6

Josh walks by Ms. Olsen’s beautiful flowerbed.

“Come and taste my muffins,” she calls.

He goes over and picks up a muffin.

Just then, his kitten jumps over the fence.




It is running after butterflies. “Stop!” shouts
Josh. But it is too late.
The kitten runs into the flowerbed and
tramples on the roses. “Sorry!” says Josh with
his head down.
“Hmm … It’s OK if you help me water the
flowers every Saturday.”
“Sure,” he says with a big smile.

Unit 7

Jude goes to see her neighbor Alex at the zoo.


He is a zookeeper. Today he is busy with a
new baby giraffe.
“Do you want to help?” asks Alex.



Jude helps him make a bed for the baby. Next,
Alex gives her a milk bottle.
She feeds the baby. Then Alex washes it.
And Jude helps him dry it. Finally, they rub
the baby’s nose and say “Sweet dreams!” Jude
is wet and tired, but proud.

Unit 8
Friendship Day is the first Sunday of August
in the U.S.A.
On this day, some people have a special party.
They dress up like TV stars for it.
Some people have a movie night.

They get popcorn and watch moves on a
couch.

Others exchange presents like chocolate,
flowers and wristbands.

Among these, flowers are their favorite.
Thirteen roses mean “Friends forever.” And
white bellflowers mean “Thanks, my friend!”
But the best present is a hug to show your
love.
