The Problem – Residential Fires  Nationwide (2006)  79% of all structure fires occurred in residential properties. There is a residential fire every 76 seconds.

The Problem – Residential Fires  Nationwide (2006)  80% of all civilian fire deaths occurred in the home. There was a civilian fire death in the home every 162 minutes.

The Problem – Residential Fires  The Facts:  Fires occur more in residential properties than in any other type of structure.

 Residential structure fires kill more people than any other type of fire.

 Residential structure fires cause more property damage than any other type of fire.

 Statistics show that seniors citizens age 65 and over and children under the age of 5 have the greatest risk of dying in a fire.

 Fact:  For about the same amount that it would cost to install new carpet in your home you could have a sprinkler system installed.

 In new construction the average cost is $1.50 to $1.75 per square foot.

Myths  Myth:  Your insurance company will charge you more due to fear of possible water damage from the residential sprinkler system .

 Fact:  Many insurance companies will give homeowners a discount of 5 to 10 % on their homeowners insurance policy if the home is protected with residential fire sprinklers.
