Mission Statement Valuing women and children and their rights, the Thompson Crisis Centre Inc. works to eradicate violence against women in society by providing women, children and communities with tools to enhance growing, encouraging violence-free living, and promoting healthier tomorrows. The Thompson Crisis Centre Inc. is dedicated to providing a holistic range of services to women and their children who experience physical, sexual or psychological abuse. Recognizing that violence does not occur in isolation from society, the Thompson Crisis Centre works through community partnerships to advocate networks and develop services to meet the needs of individuals, families, and communities .

 Received 1,413 crisis calls  Provided support to 17 women and 34 children in the transition program  3002 emergency bed nights provided for 172 women  Non-residential support provided to 28 women and 8 children  On site and off site counseling support for 132 children  6,507 unique hits on the Thompson Crisis Centre website

A year in review

The Province released a multi year Domestic Violence strategy which included expanding services to accept family violence Hosted “Take back the night” walk Co-hosted with YWCA International Women’s Day Participated in Dec 6 th and sisters in spirit vigil Introduced quarterly union/management meetings and staff meetings Staff participated in Klinic Training “Becoming Trauma Informed” Created a resource library Created a youth designated space Jason Lucas murals completed in the Emergency floor TV room and front entrance Upgraded all furniture and chattels throughout the centre to create a home environment Renovated Emergency floor office Several presentations provided to elementary schools and community organizations MB housing upgraded all bathrooms and kitchens in transition suites MB housing completed a capital review of the facility Opened an exercise room Several staff team building events were held Enhanced activities were offered to clients New data program was introduced WISH

Expand outreach services to continue to bring awareness of Domestic/Family violence within Thompson and surrounding communities Strengthen staff development through the Human Resources Development Plan (TCC counselor certification ) Continue to strengthen child care programming by adding specific programming including a play group (pre-school curriculum) and a family night Continue to offer evening and weekend activities to women and their children Continue to offer life skills programming promoting healthy living strategies Research and develop a pre-employment program for women accessing the transition program Maintain and expand community connections Enhance parenting, children and youth services Continue to develop strong partnerships with women advocacy agencies Update standards manual and policies to reflect new mandate of family violence Continue to work on a community action plan to reduce violence against women and girls Work with agencies in providing “wrap-around” services to women in shelter
