Brief Introduction to InfoPath
InfoPath 2007
• Client application is part of Microsoft Office 2007
• Designed to allow quick development of data entry forms
• Can be used in SharePoint as the template for a forms library
InfoPath Form Services
• Allows browser enabled forms to be published to SharePoint
• Eliminates the need for InfoPath to be installed on each user’s
computer
• A few features are not available on browser enabled forms
• Not all SharePoint installations come with Form Services

• Windows Workflow Foundation
• Part of .NET Framework 3.0
• Development involves creation of activities
• Common usage includes approvals, help desk, and change
management.
• SharePoint Designer Workflows
• Created without having to write any code.
• Utilizes a wizard that allows a user to add conditions and activities
• SharePoint designer associates completed workflows with a single
library or list

PTO Request System Requirements
• Create a form that allows users to request days off
• The form can only be used to request 10 days off or less
• The form must be available on the web
• If needed, the user’s manager must approve the PTO
