“Encourage” is a
compound word, “en”
“courage”. Your

within.

Joseph was called the
“son of a Prophet”. Not
because he was
abrasive, but because
he was positive.

A Barnabas:
Is a peer encourager who holds up
your hand when you are tired
 Gives you a standing ovation or
handclap when you rarely get one
 Gives you permission to fall
 Gives you permission to write a bad
first draft


A Barnabas:
Reminds you that God has given you
everything you need for life and
living
 Dares you to remember that the
same God who called you to life,
called you to ministry
 Reminds you that you have the
privilege of loving for a living

A Barnabas:
Someone who breathes into you new
life, when life has taken your breath
away
 Lifts you when you are road-shipped,
world weary, bone tired, blood-thin,
browbeaten and sick of it all
 Loves you through the most difficult
times of your life

We need two types of
“handlers”

One hand makes a fist – Nathan

The other hand makes a palm –
Barnabas

There are five manifestations
of the Barnabas spirit!
1.
2.
The Good Samaritan Barnabas – the
spontaneous encourager who we may
not even know (Luke 10:25-37)
The Onesimus/Big Brother Barnabas –
he or she knows your name well
enough to understand the hesitations
of your heart. (Col. 4:9, Philemon 10)
