Chapter 4: Congruent Triangles
Lesson 4-3: Triangle Congruence by ASA
and AAS
Goal: Prove two triangles are
congruent by using the ASA Postulate
and the AAS Theorem.
Congruent Polygons:


Congruent figures have the same
size and shape.
Congruent polygons have
congruent corresponding parts –
their matching sides and angles.
When we name congruent
polygons, we always list the
corresponding vertices in the same
order.
Triangle Congruence:

Postulate 4-3 Angle-Side-Angle
Postulate: If two angles and the
included side of one triangle are
congruent to two angles and the
included side of another triangle,
then the two triangles are
congruent.
Triangle Congruence:

Theorem 4-2 Angle-Angle-Side
Theorem: If two angles and a nonincluded side of one triangle are
congruent to two angles and the
corresponding non-included side of
another triangle, then the two
triangles are congruent.
