CCS has largest CC service area in WA:
12,302 square miles – six counties

Initially, collaborative project between CCS IR
and CCS Outreach offices
Simple Concept:
High schools in WA don’t have access to high-quality,
targeted data on their students after they leave
We can provide our feeder HSs with data:
Reports
Specific research projects
Two-way data-sharing
Do it at no cost to high schools

Planned Benefits:
High schools & colleges will know more about their
students they serve
Helps identify barriers to college matriculation &
success
Permits additional ways for high schools to assess
their programs
Opens lines of communication between k-12 and
college educators

Summer 2010:
established data sharing agreements
Collected basic demographic data on HS students –
10-year history
(e.g., last year in HS, sex, race, HS GPA)
Fall and Winter 2010:
Tracked HS students through NSC Student Tracker
Tracked HS students in CCS student records for their
1st year
Created reports for each district and one aggregate
Outreach presented reports to high schools

Spring & Summer 2011:
Expanded collaboration to include Rural Alliance for
College Success
College Spark-funded alliance of 35 rural districts in
eastern Washington
(http://ruralallianceforcollegesuccess.org)
Awarded 3-year College Spark Grant and 1-year
Washington STEM Grant
Add IT hardware and personnel
Hold two regional conferences per year to share results
and inform the next round of report development.
