your Class












Room Number
Section or period
Grade Level or subject
An appropriate welcome or greeting
Stand at the door on the first day of school. Have a smile
on your face!
As the students stand there to see if your are the right
teacher- Welcome them to the new school year!
Check each student’s registration card.
After you greet a student they should see the same
information that was on the door displayed in the room.
How to Arrange and Assign
Seating
 The
teacher is present in the room or at
the door when the students arrive.
 Assign seating to everyone upon entering
the room.

Age, Height, Alphabetical Order, Peer-group tutoring, Paired
Problem Solving, Challenging Students at the front of the
room.
 Has
an assignment on each desk ready
for the students.

Your very first
priority when
the class starts
is to get the
students to
work.

Discipline Plan



Rules: What the student is expected to follow.
Consequences: What the student encounters if a rule
is broken.
Rewards: What the student receives for appropriate
behavior.
If you do not have a plan, then you are
planning to fail.
How to Teach Students to
Follow Classroom Procedures
 Teach-
State, explain, model, and
demonstrate the procedure.
 Rehearse- Rehearse and practice the
procedure under your supervision.
 Reinforce- Reteach, Rehearse, Practice, and
reinforce the classroom procedure until it
becomes a student habit or routine.
