Prevent Cuts
Use these precautions with paper cutters:
Keep your fingers away from blade
Keep cutting blade in down position when
not in use
Make sure paper cutter is on flat surface
Use equipment such as scissors, staplers,
and staple removers cautiously and only
for purpose for which they were designed

slipping
Prevent Burns
• Ensure that laminating machines
are properly guarded to prevent
contact with heated surfaces.
• Exercise caution when clearing
paper jams from copiers and
printers; avoid contact with heated
surfaces.
Safe Lifting Techniques
1 Evaluate load to be lifted. Use dolly or
mechanical device whenever possible.
2 Set feet solidly on ground, spaced apart
and close to load.
3 Bend knees outward, crouch over load
keeping back as straight as possible
and grasp load securely.
4 Push up with legs, bring back upright
keeping load close to body.
5 Avoid jerking motion.
Safe Lifting Techniques
6 If necessary to change directions while
lifting the load or after it has been brought
to carrying position, be careful not to twist
the body. Turn the body by changing feet
position.
7 When placing the load on a surface such
as a bench or table, place it on the edge so
that the landing point assumes part of the
load, then push with arms.
Safe Lifting Techniques
1 If lowering load to floor, reverse lifting
method; bend knees and with back straight
and load close to body, lower load using
arm and leg muscles.
2 Never carry a load of such size that it
reduces your visibility.
3 Use back belts consistently and properly.
4 A back belt does not allow you to lift a
heavier load that you would normally.
General Safety Rules

electrical equipment.
• Do not block access to electrical
panels.
• Store heavy and bulky items at

students are changing classes.
Ladder Safety
• Never use a damaged/defective ladder.
• If a ladder must be set up in traffic
area, use a barricade or guard to
prevent collisions.
• Face ladder and hold on with both
hands while climbing/ascending.
• Use “belt buckle” rule, your belt
buckle should not move beyond the
ladder sides.
Ladder Safety
