A C JOSHI LIBRARY

   Rs. 1.75 crore allocated for: Purchase of new software Implementation of RFID technology Smart Card Security Gates

LIBRARY SOFTWARE

     Presently we are using Techlib/Plus software Not compatible with RFID No financial management component No provision of Web-OPAC Not window based

RFID   RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is basically a data acquisition and storage system which provides accurate and exact data without human intervention. RFID is a technology that consists of a system and tiny tags which uses radio waves to automatically identify the objects.

RFID COMPONENTS

Self Check Out

Drop Box

Security Gates (Detection System)S

Tag

Workstation

Digital Library Assistant

SECURITY GATES/DETECTION SYSTEM

Available in one, two, three or four corridor models  Positioned at library exits, they read the security setting that is stored in RFID tags and determine whether or not items should be permitted to leave the library.

If items have not been properly checked out, an alarm sounds to alert library staff.

TAG

  Memory chip stores all information needed to identify and track materials Tags are “rewriteable” so they don’t have to be replaced every time information about the item changes.

DIGITAL LIBRARY ASSISTANT

   Can hold information for more than one million items Make shelf-reading, re shelving, sorting, searching, weeding and finding exceptions much easier and more efficient Swivel antenna makes reading items on high or low shelves easier

WORKSTATION

   Combines check-in, checkout and tag programming in a single station Ensures safe processing of all media types Can process both bar-coded and RFID tagged items.

Patron Self-Checkout Station

 Allows patrons to check out items without assistance from the library staff. Complete with a touch screen and receipt printer, the Patron Self- Checkout Station helps you reduce staff workload and improve customer service.
