The Birth of PA SART
 Established in 2005
 PA SART project based on NC SART
 Concept adopted to address animal related
disaster response needs
 Created through a private – public
partnership to serve as a unifying network of
organizations, businesses, federal and state
government agencies
 CARTs established to fulfill needs of local
response
SART Development
 Non – profit organization
 Serves as a networking agency and
allows privately raised donations to help
support the organization
 Funding through Federal
government/Homeland Security

 To facilitate a rapid, coordinated, local, and
effective response to large scale emergencies
affecting animals
 To decrease the health and safety threat to
humans and animals

emergencies affecting animals

during emergencies affecting animals
