Conclusions
A new design with only one aspheric surface (on the first lens) and without
the use of BaF2 seems feasible by reducing the wavelength range to 5001000 nm.
The optical quality improvement could be sacrificed for:
- reduce the overall weight
- simplify the aspheric surface (if vignetting is allowed)
- improve the focal extraction
- simplify the alignment (to be verified)
- recover the 450-1000 nm spectral band (to be verified)
I’m using both Schott and Ohara radhard glasses. If only one glass
provider is needed, I suggest Ohara (I will try to substitute the Schott
glasses)
Need to define an error budget for the tolerances (from scientific
constraints, i.e. PSF <35 arcsec?)
