New Keys Are Presented
in Blinking Color

The “O” blinks in red color—and is keyed
with the red “L” finger
Teachers have the option to turn
off the Timing Screen

If students look down at the keys, they lose their
place
Errors Allowed: 0
Look down at keys,
lose place, make error,
take timing over!
Students learn from
the start to keep eyes
on the text, not keys.
Practice Timings Must Meet
Teacher’s Accuracy Standards
At the end of the 15seconds, the speed
and accuracy appear.
In the Setup, the teacher set 0
errors for 15-sec. timings. This
timing has 1 error, so nothing
recorded. Click Yes button below
to take the timing again.
Practice Timings are Repeated
Until the Skill is Learned
NO ERRORS!!
SPEED RECORDED!!
With keyboarding it is very important that students learn the keys before moving
on to learn new ones. Students should strive to practice each exercise until they meet
their “A” grade goal. Although the best three speeds of all attempts record, students have an
unlimited number of practice attempts. (Competency-based Instruction)
Progress Report

The best scores that meet the accuracy standard are
automatically saved to student’s Progress Report.
Final and Mid-term Grade Reports are
created from the scores on this Simple
Progress Report. (There is a
Comprehensive Progress Report that
shows the best three scores for each
timed exercise; Final and Mid-term
grades are created from the best score
of the three.)
Other Special Features
Click Timer to Restart
(during a timing)
Adjusts size of letters
Teachers See Student Scores
in the Teacher Manager

Scores are available online from anywhere—
classroom, home, etc. Nothing needs to be
printed. (Same for mid-term, final grades)
Select View Student Progress
Select Class, Select Student, View Scores
Individual Progress Report
(All the scores of one student)
Lesson Averages
The Profile Name Column

You can individualize for Special Needs or
Accelerated Students in your classroom.

The numbers after the Profile Name are the wpm goal
for an “A” in that Profile.
The Student Effort Column Shows
Amount of Time Spent Practicing

It accumulates the time the timer is going—
students must meet pre-set speed and accuracy
or it won’t record (they can’t start the timer and
leave or play around).

(No more excuses by students who are behind)

Nuts ‘n’ Bolts Formatting and Introduction to Microsoft Applications
are listed below the courses for your school on our web site. Just
scroll down and select your version of software.
Note: Teachers don’t want to purchase
expensive typing books that include
formatting that will change with the
new version of software about every
two to three years. Ellsworth
Publishing Company doesn’t want to
print textbooks that are going out of
date about every two to three years.
So, we took all the formatting out of
our courses and left just the drills. We
will keep up with the version changes
and put the formatting on our web site
so our teachers can use it FREE!
EVERYBODY WINS!!!
